The campaign to repair the Aetheryte introduces chocobos and airships into Eorzea. New zones are added that are only accessible by these new forms of travel, as the aetheric mist is incapable of crystallizing close to these anomalies that have sprung up. Once you have defeated the big bad, the Aetherytes start to reform, but now require more anima the further away from the city you're trying to teleport. The anomalies, however, still exist and continue to interfere with teleportation (possibly making it somewhat unreliable by either randomly costing more anima than normal or just occasionally not being able to teleport you).
I like this idea alot. Wow, just...wow that was well thought out and sounds alot of fun and innovative.
