And I was gonna mention machina too, taelien. In a few FF games you could travel by machina as well as chocobo. I think it might be a little weird to see someone zooming by on a little machina in lets say, the black shroud, but I'm not against ideas like that XD

(I also like the idea of differnt colored chocobos having different stats/abilities, but that's just me..)
