So, apparently alot of you have never played Final Fantasy..

For your sake here is a list of other modes of transportation form the Final Fantasy Series other than chocobos..

Magitek Armor
Motor Cycles
Cars
Shoopuff
Airships
Spaceships
Canoes
Sail Boats
Speed Boats
Dragons
Personal Aerial Combat Armor
Trains
Gargant(spider things)
Hovercraft
Snowboard
Submarine
Helicopter

And that's just off the top of my head.. Now please, someone explain to me how Chocobo's are the only reasonable Mount for FFXIV..

I think most people are thinking about a more personal mount that you own/rent and see people riding the most often from place to place. Given the current setting of FFXIV and what we have seen this far (well, really nothing this far) most of that seems a bit out of place (snowboard for example), and I have yet to see the Garlean Empire flying around in a helicopter. Chocobos are the mount that is most commonly seen throughout the series. I wouldn't be against them adding more, just as long as it doesn't turn into a WoW cash shop with sparkle ponies and glowy flying lions! ^_^
