Market Wards, enough is enough

So the market wards just crashed on my server and now I can't even log back in because I was in them at the time. I think enough is enough. I acknowledge people's desires to keep the market wards, and I too like them when they're working properly. But it's been 7 months since release and they're still not stable. What's going to happen when we have more than 500~ people per server?

Every day on the lodestone there are multiple updates regarding world recoveries. All of them are due to market wards crashing in Ul'dah. I think you've had enough time to fix this SE, and it clearly shows that this will never be possible. I hate to say it, but just give us an AH already. I'd much rather have a stable system than one that isn't easily manipulated. According to those who are in favor of the wards, this seems to be the main argument. To be honest though, I still think the Market Wards are much easier to manipulate than an AH.

I understand your frustration but it does state in the latest developer letter that "radical improvements" are coming, and that an auction house is being considerd. I guess we will just have to wait and hope that things improve.

So I just logged back in and now I get screwed again. Before I crashed I was looking for mats to make some fishing gear. I log back in and of course, all the retainers are gone. WTF to do now? Broken system is broken.

Any system that requires you to look up your item in a list, go to the appropriate ward, look for the retainer then finally buy the item is broken. What were they thinking?

Once you find your item in the list, you should be able to buy it there.

It's no better than having a million menus come up before you can craft an item.

isn't this more of a server side problem?
i mean blaming the wards is the easiest way to find an excuse to implement an AH, but what if the AH crashed due to a server problem and your items would be gone for good?

let's first let them fix this crapy server issues before blaming it on anything else.

I love the Wards. Aside from the crashes it is a far superior place to buy and sell goods in my opinion. I hope they never go away and I hope they never move to AH. If that keeps people away from the game (I don't see why) oh well. Your loss for not trying to understand how it can benefit you rather than hinder you.

There could be better systems than the Wards (in fact, I can think of some) but Wards are better than an Auction House in principle. It just needs to work right and stabilize.

That's the whole point. This is a server side issue. And 7 months is plenty of time to fix server instability. I know Yoshi's team has only been on the game for about 4 months, but even that much time should be more than enough. At some point we just have to say it, enough is enough.

Wait...aren't auction houses old school? =p The first most obvious example being XI.
