Oh god forbid the series should make an effort to innovate or move forward from dusty old standards. Chocobos are great and all but in this day and age I welcome a variety of mounts. I was fine with just chocobos but this news actually made me pretty happy, I could go either way on it.

More mount, maybe not "animal mount" but something better than chocobo, tired of thoses. We can steal Empire vehicle by example and Cid could make us a great flying motorcycle like the motorcycle from FFVII advent children ! /dream off.
Seriously, Colored chocobo was able to climb mountain and more, as we can't do that in FFXIV i dont see the point either in a colored chocobo.

The one thing i think they really need to do is give us mounts with no restrictions like silly timers where they chuck us off in the middle of nowhere. I want to be able to ride my mount for as long as i want, being able to take them into the city would also be cool.

The world is way too expansive not to have mounts.

Mounts should be readily accessible, even if they are not very diverse. By way of example, players should be able to obtain a Chocobo or other such mount as early as R10. Travelling by foot is way too tedious in a world rampant with copy-paste.

Perhaps Ishgard could give a Dragon-riding liscence for a Peiste/dragon type mount too in the same vein as the chocobo liscence in old Jeuno.

I welcome multiple mount species, but I would hate to see mounts that destroy the artistic integrity of the game. Chocobos are a given, and maybe some other iconic monster would be good too, but too many crazy things like giant were-rababs or whatever would be kind of tacky.

R10? That's pushing it a bit imo.
For some reason when Yoshida mentioned other possible mounts, I pictured summons/primals. I would love to ride something like Ixion or Fenrir.

I'd like to see the role of anima scaled back somewhat, so that it's mostly just used for very long-distance travel.
Then add a variety of buffs/consumables to enhance foot travel.
Plus the addition of a variety of 'mounted' travel options, including things for mid-range travel. For example a Ferry or Carriage which could be faster than foot travel and automatic (and thus, safe), or a mount like a Chocobo which is faster still but manually controlled (and therefore without a fixed path/destination).
