I don't want to see non chocobo mounts, it would feel more like WoW and less like FF. Chocobos and airships that's what it's all about in a FF game. Different colour chocobos would be more then enough, maybe we could customise them.
Things I'd love from chocobos:
- Breedable birds, so you can get the colour of your choice
- Customisable armour for them, you can see it on the chocobos in the artwork, not that farfetched
- Personal chocobo summonable to you (on a cooldown) that can be ridden and/or used to access storage remotely. (the chocobo in that picture with the guys standing on a cliff is covered in bags)
I do not want a mount system like WoW. Chocobo's only please. Why change a good idea like chocobos as mounts? I understand taking some things from WoW. But the mount system is not something I would like to have in FFXIV. But screw me! They are giving us auto attack which I do not want. Thanks for the future gimp to my Mar.
I believe that mounts should still stick to bieng Chocobo only. I have never seen anything mounted in any FF games other than the occasional car or motorcycle. Just because you have Chocobo's, does not mean that a design team has to be boring and just make the same yellow chocobo. Try making Chocobo's of all different shapes and sizes, Chocobo's with different colored and designed saddles. I think that would be amazing. Just because you are dealing with one animal, does not mean that you have to make it look like the same boring design of all other Chocobo's in other FF games.
How do you expect there to be variety in the mounts people have, then? The chocobo colors will only hold out so far.
I hated chocobo breeding in FFXI. I had to raise one for a friend and quickly saw the thing was more a gilsink and timesink than something that would eventually become a convenience to the player. Spending a month of your life on that stupid thing only to get a chocobo that was slower than the rentals, had less stamina and was temperamental as hell was a complete waste of time.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
You realize that more games than WoW in the MMO genre have had mounts, yes? Furthermore there are lots of possibilities that come directly from the FF universe for this, like for instance.. Magitek Armor.

Personally I think the mount systems in other MMOs has become far over simplified. I think SE should look into a system where in you have to capture and tame your mount rather than breeding or just buying them..
That being said, I also think SE should stick with the current lore implimented in the game.. There are not enough chocobos in Eorzea and theirfor not everyone can have one. That being the current situation, Chocobos should be pretty rare epic mounts that are hard to get and in some form or another very Personalized.
I want to ride Shoopufs. >_>
