I see these blue and red ribbons but I have no idea what they mean or how they are acquired?

More or less has to do with how much you've posted, although it's some kinda formula based on how many times you've liked a post or had your posts liked that'll raise the count faster.

I for instance, I got my 3rd gold medal after reaching 2000 posts. I don't tend to like many posts or get many of my posts liked, so that seems to be about the standard. I've seen people with only 700 posts have 3 gold medals with 3 silver medals so they're working towards their 4th gold. They've probably liked a lot of posts and had theirs liked a lot.

Here's the common breakdown I've seen just based on post count and not relying on likes:

50 posts - 1 gold
100 posts - 2 gold
1000 posts - 3 gold
2000 posts - 4 gold
4000 posts - 5 gold
5000 posts - 6 gold

Then you get silver medals somewhere in between those numbers.
