It's always good to think outside the box! Good job! I was considering the Militia Armet HQ over of the Hoplite Circlet but it comes down to the stats.

A few people I have come across on these forums like to claim that "this is minuscule or that is minuscule" or "stats yield no significant increase to survive-ability," but they do. Getting certain pieces to get you closer to STR Caps for Damage mitigation is crucial and outweighs iLvl. This has been the case for many MMO's now where some equipment pieces from previous content are actually better than current-higher iLevel pieces because of stat allocation and abilities of the item (See Trinkets in WoW for example). Now I'm aware this isn't WoW, but the fact remains that you want to hit necessary caps for yourself. You want Accuracy (341 Base + 132~134 from Gear + 7 from Toast = 480~482), then you want as much Parry as you can get. If you are close to a STR Cap Tier (337, 364, 405) than you will want to re-allocate your 30 points to hit these.

From personal experience, these steps have greatly increased my survive-ability as a Warrior in Coil. I have Paladin leveled, but I have yet to use it, we have cleared the content (Turn 1-4) without using the Double PLD strategies for about 5 weeks now, and the more gear I accumulate on Warrior, the easier BC gets.

My overall opinion would be to take the time to look at your upgrades, not so much "Which piece should I upgrade compared to how achievable the BiS piece is." The iLvl stackers are the very thing that made hostile environments in WoW, "Yeah bro, cool you have a higher gear score than me, but you have tank trinkets equipped on your Resto Druid." Same case here, the Valor helm is probably the best piece to look into because of all the listed reasons; the Allagan Helm is Turn 5, the stats between Hoplite/Armet and Valor Helm are substantial (+8 STR and +9 VIT, STR being the most important), and it's higher base defense.

*IF you have the Accuracy to spare, I would look into the Valor Helm*

Otherwise, the Relic +1 is much more better for your BC experience than Valor Gloves (Which are not BiS if you are capping Accuracy and then maximizing Parry) over the Allagan Gloves which are semi-attainable depending upon your progression.

Sorry for the wall of text, but I hope this assists you rather than misleads you like some of these Forum Raiders.
