1.5 second time to dodge. Even with 280ms ping each way, that's about 1 second to dodge. The rest is on your own head, sir.
Its not the games fault you play with high latency. I also dont understand why people say its larger than it appears, I stand on the very edge of the aoe and dont get hit, just like any other.
As a server based game, where the servers are located overseas, I would say yes, it is the 'games' fault. But generally the problem is not the 200 ms lag there is from Norway to Canada, its the total of 300 ms character position lag, plus the network lag that makes up all the problems.
My fc is doing turn 4 now and I can work around the lag in most situations just fine. But there has been multiple times where I know I have been standing outside the AoE, and still get hit just as the castbar finishes.
Again the whole point is not me whining about not being able to dodge, as I can mostly just fine, the problem is that it just feels bad.
A good example would be any online fps, if everyone had played on a server with 300ms network latency, it would be fair and technically balanced, but you would not have enjoyed it, which is the whole point.

The ego of some people..."I have bad latency so this must mean Square is going to lose customers"...
Move closer to the server, get a better ISP/modem, or clean out your computer. The problem is likely on your own end.
I must be great at doing the impossible then.
1) Get better
2) Fix your connection
The majority of us never get hit by it.
Noob alter, how are you working out your lag please? Does the game tell you or are you just pinging (square-enix.montreal.com, eu.square-enix.com etc)?
Most FF14 player I come across doesn't even understand the idea of network lag. From their point of view if they are out of the red box *before* the cast bar finishes, they are supposed to be safe.
I think SE is at fault here and not the players. Why have red box when its not *accurate*? Its is giving player wrong information. Wrong info is worse than no info.
What needs to happen is actual aoe area should be smaller than than red box to compensate for network lag.
