So true... "Keeping up with the Jones' " can be an expense; fortunately as games progress, hi-end components become standard components and the price point remains roughly the same. For as long as I can remember $600 gets you a PC that can try anything but won't always preform well. $1000 let's you play any game on normal settings.

My first PC was an AST advantage 286 MHz Processor with a 250 MB hard drive... It was $600 and fairly top of the line. That was 20 years ago... In 20 more years, who uses the term "Bytes" or even "Kilobytes" anymore? Our grand children playing FFXXX won't know what a "Megabyte or Gigabyte" is and anything with a wire on it will be strange to them.
