    Player Interaction / Duty Finder

Greetings denizens of FF14 . I've noticed, for the past month or so that I have played (and have to say I've been enjoying it quite a bit), that there is a decreasing amount of players who wish to engage in conversation. I feel the Duty Finder (and FATEs), through their accessibility, have a big role in this in that it negates the need for player interaction. Does anyone else feel a lack of player interaction? Please share your experiences!

I'd like to make it known that I understand that Duty Finder, and systems of the like, are great for players who don't have time to invest in creating their own groups.

EDIT: Let's try and keep the thread respectful and on topic.

PapaSteel, that all depends on the maturity, usefulness and respect shown towards thoughts and opinions. Your reply is a good example of why threads don't solve issues. Let's try to keep it positive and maybe we can get somewhere

Try to be more outgoing then? Not sure what else to say.

    Really depends on the group.

I like that I am not forced to interact with incompetent players.

Almost every run I have done has had at least some type of greeting component included. What exactly can we discuss when we're killing things? Every time I try to type in an instance, someone dies. I can't tell you how many times my healing rotation ended up in the dialogue box.

I would say it's more of a problem with society on a whole than just limited to DF. I was talking about this with my friends the other day in regards to XBL and how on the original Xbox people would always be talking with random people in games like Rainbow Six and I would get loads of friends requests from random people I just met in a game where we got chatting. During the 360 era and especially since the advent of party chat I hardly see anyone chatting and giving the usual banter. It's usually just people don't have mic plugged in or they are in party chat so it's very rare I will get a friends request from someone these days. People just don't seem to want to interact with strangers in games these days.

Alomst every fate party I've been in we always strike up a conversation in between fates.

Duty finder doesn't completely remove player interaction, though it does remove the NECESSITY of it. There's nothing at all stopping you from having a good chat with the people you meet in a dungeon through duty finder. Hell, I've even sat in a dungeon for 10 minutes after it ended chatting with a player I met who wasn't on my server. If you'd like to sit back, steam roll a dungeon, and do it without saying a word, you can. Doesn't mean you have to. Parties CAN be rather silent, it just needs one chatty person to get some conversation going throughout the party though. If you have a problem with the lack of interaction, be that one chatty person. Usually works.

50% of the parties I do in DF don't even say hi/hello/hey and I've noticed this even on my alt who I leveled 1-50 through all the lower level dungeons as well :| It's like people are on mute the whole run. Like I'm playing with NPCs with better AI >.<

Never had a duty finder group or fate party that didn't end up in random conversation
