In FFXI, certain abilities were quested after as well. Mainly Weaponskills, but some magic too (Drain, Aspir, etc). As a result, I didn't pay that particular detail much mind.

My guesses have boiled down to three...

    1) Jobs will function as classes have thus far, in that you will rank them up and follow the natural flow of progress. I see this as the realistic outcome, as the battle classes to be ranked are only seven (7) in number, and would permit easy capping across the board (a la Maat's Cap challenge).

    2) Jobs will function as "modes" on classes, morphing/altering said class by augmenting it's capabilities. Kind of like how you could augment your Puppet in FFXI with differing capabilities. I don't think this is likely due to my conjecture as stated in option 1. Many people have already capped all seven (7) combat jobs, many more over halfway (halfway point myself). Having this level of progress attainable in mere months could oversaturate the number of "PLDs", "WHMs", "DRGs", or whatever jobs they implement.

    3) Seiken Densetsu 3 forking job tree. Base class evolves into one of two jobs, at the player's choosing. I think this is very unlikely due to common sense reasons...
