Sorry that you had a bad experience, but honestly it's the nature of the beast. Using DF will put you in these situations, especially in Aurum Vale. You almost need a bard, or hard hitting AOE to beat the last boss because of how the adds work. The timer is actually about 30 minutes longer than a person needs to do a clean run, as stated before it helps with server loads as well. The best advice I can give you is to find a premade, or just reque for the dungeon.

I call BS on the server loads. The population has already started to lower now that the 30 days are over, hundreds of thousands of people are paying 15 dollars a month. The IT industry has spent years coming up with different load balancing methods, such as cloud computer with things such as Amazon Web Services and stuff like that. There are cost effective ways for them to load balance and keep it with in a reasonable cost. They need to come up with ways to deliver a better customer experience. And I hardly doubt that letting people spend another 30-40 minutes in a dungeon is all of a sudden gonna break some server. Plenty of other MMOs from other smaller companies can make it work, so I am sure SE can do it too.

Even if server load isn't a problem, what if you got put into a group that either couldn't practically finish the dungeon or would take 5 hours to finish the dungeon? Dungeons are locked to 90-120 minutes usually and even DF groups complete them well under that time because a standard has been set by the timer. Remove the timer and you'll get slightly worse players and longer completion times. It's a trade off between having ridiculously long runs occasionally vs. reasonable length runs with some occasional fails.

It has done quite a bit of damage to the ideology of MMOs. Sad but true. I feel bad for the people who never really truly got to experience how real MMOs were back nearly a decade and a half ago. It has changed greatly and I can tell you, I enjoy those adventurous days...even when gfx and etc were terrible.

Yeah, I feel for you with the wasting 90 minutes because it's happened to me before on multiple occasions, but as people have pointed out, it happens and removing the timer is only going to frustrate you more when you look at the clock and realize you've been attempting the same fight for three hours.

This community needs to stop with the "I had one bad experience so now I'm going to go straight to the forums and demand things be changed" threads. There are bad mechanics and bad luck and most of the time it is the latter.

Timer is required to prevent malicious flooding and indefinite stay-alives of instances which result in full DF servers.

IMO if you wiped 5+ times you deserve to be kicked out.

I quite like the Timer. I do dungeons as my primary method of leveling a new class.

I feel that without that timer, people just wouldn't try hard enough to succeed.
I still remember spending 5 hours in Blackrock Depths in WoW back in vanilla because the Tank kept AFKing and getting himself lost. Sunken Temple was another that could take forever due to people getting lost.

if we did not have the timer, people wouldn't care about wiping 100 times on a bad boss, because there is no punishment for doing so, which can lead to spending many hours in a dungeon and getting nowhere.
