    Best Strategies for Ifrit?

Time for the Fire ...any good ideas for dealing with the Nails and other fun stuff in Ifrit? it looks pretty daunting ...esp the high level attacks he uses and the speed they come, i understand there are some "safe" spots to stand but not sure if that is needed to survive this dungeon. Anyway, any suggestions welcome.

def the best strategy for defeating nails is using blm/smn limit break.
Get to know his plume pattern and when to interrupt "eruption".

ok makes sense, those nails look tough.I guess you just have to be prepared to move a lot in this one and fast.

If you have 2 tanks, 1 being pld, have the pld be on stuns, only stun eruption. The plumes order is outside aoe inside aoe. He will usually do an eruption in between the plumes. After the nails are gone the plume order changes. It will remain out > in but it will also be one the takes up the arena minus right around him so have everyoneminus main tank crowd behind him. When he jumps just avoid the line he runs.

Just did the fight now, and I have to admit it was quite scary - that Flame Breath took like 1/3 of my hitpoints so I was like "yea this is gonna suck...".

Never done it before, granted I did read a guide. But all we really did was have the tank (me) face the horny dude away from the party. When the nail spawned everyone, me included went berserk on it and managed to kill it before the Hellfire. Apart from that it was all just a matter of avoiding aoes.

I suppose I was lucky that we had a good healer and our dps werent the kind that stand in aoes and expect to just get healed through it.

If you're the healer, make sure you keep an eye on the ground you're standing on - the cracks/flaming ground that spawn all over the battlefield will get you if you're slow. When I did the fight (as CNJ) my party failed about three times because I was too slow at avoiding the cracks/flame field and got killed around the time the nail spawned (I was too busy keeping an eye on the party's health like I should have been).

So as a healer you really need to work harder in the fight, as well as healing you have to watch the AoEs as well - it teaches you to be mindful of your surroundings/environment.

I made it thru after our party died three times. It was hard to see the ground attacks to the end, we managed to kill the sword in the ground three times but my main mistake was not focusing on Ifrit enough and not keeping his Agro on me so the rest of the team has to work extra hard. One of them was kind enough to tell me before the final try that i was a lousy tank, which I know already which is why had asked here for advice. .but it is not a lot of fun to hear that in the middle of a fight then you were doing your best and giving your all. I didnt want to let the team down so i kept at it and i think by the end i improved and we managed to kill him and it felt really good.

I skipped the start video and thought it would be in my diary in the inn room but i guess if you skip a video you dont get it to watch later. anyway thanks a lot.

My advice after doing it is to be sure all of the team but the Gladiator stays on the far side, the entrance side, the tank keeps agro on Ifrit hard and keeps him pointed his way, and then be sure to kill the sword but if the tank joins in the nail attack, then it may take longer for the final kill and some of those wave attacks are hard to see with all the flame around .... not an easy test ...but with a good healer and focused DPS people it is doeable. thanks again for the help and I will keep trying to improve.

Tank doesn't have to kill the nail, the dps should be enough for it. If the tank moves to the nail(s) Ifrit will roast them and the rest of the party. If you are struggling to down the nail in time, your dps are doing something wrong, either skill or gear wise. As much as I don't like it, the game has constant roadblocks when it comes to gear.

Also, you CAN watch all cutscenes in your inn, they are not all under the same category though. Just change to duty and you should be able to find it.

I guess it is all dependent on your group.
I believe we were myself as Tank and along with a Mage, Archer, and do not recall what other classes.
I could not remember it all to well as we finished fairly quickly. I believe when the Nail dropped someone in the group said to focus on it and i do recall the only one attacking from up close.
If a tank gets enough agro on Ifrit i would say for everyone to focus on the nail, tank included as if it is not taking care of i heard Ifrit's next attack can wipe everyone
I know at first going into it i thought for it to be daunting as i am still new to MMO's but it went great actually.
Also true about gear, always best to have the same level or higher as the Dungeon and or Quest
