Aside from coil exactly what fights are you doing that require you and 3/7 people on a voice chat? The main problem I have with ps3 players is their unwillingness to get on TS/vent/mumble/raid call most peps have one of the following a laptop, a smartphone, or a tablet. I honestly don't mind if you are unable to speak I just want you to listen.
I can understand if you don't have a wireless router or a router period but most peps playing online games now adays have at least some type of router.
I know plenty of good players out there that play on ps3 and are willing to bring up a VoIP chat up on an alternate device. That is all I am really arming most of the time
It's sad that people throw things out that they have no clue about.
WE CAN SKIP CUT SCENES The loading time to both get into a cut scene and skip one is about 2-4 seconds longer than a computer player. That's the only difference.
I'm a PS3 player that uses both a headset for voice chat and a keyboard and can type 80-100 WPM. Sorry if some PS3 players don't want to utilize one or the other, but don't say that "PS3 players don't utilize chat". It's just the same as the computer players that don't know how to type and can only type 5 WPM.
I have both PS3 and a great computer. Played FFXIV on both and I feel much more comfortable playing on PS3 and like it far better.
By the way, I'm the last guy standing alive during dungeons, HM primals, etc and I enjoy letting people know that I'm playing on a PS3.
Parents pay for there kids college still? Man wtf I had to pony up my own 150 grand for college <.< I hate my parents.
You seem not to realize how long the PS3 has been out, and how long its been since the price was reduced. It's been YEARS. I wasn't married, at the time, and it mainly serves as a DVD/bluray player these days anyway. And any computer I would have put the money I paid for the PS3 toward back then would be even worse off for playing FFXIV today anyway. Great logic you got there. Things change, and people grow up and find new responsibilities in life. I own a computer, as you would know if you actually paid attention to my original post, or, you know, used your brain for two seconds seeing as how I'm posting on an internet message board and all. We use it for internet stuff, my wife's college courses, and for my work projects. It's not powerful enough to run FFXIV, but it's more than enough to handle what we actually do use it for. So why would I buy a completely new one just to play one game? THAT is a waste of money, as you not so aptly tried to turn my own words around on me for picking up a PS3 back when my cost of living was not even a quarter what it is now. Buying a completely new computer to play one single game is not a priority. Picking up a game for a system i've owned since before I was married is a luxury I am willing to spend money on. It's all a matter of priorities. Having a kickass gaming computer ISNT one. I would rather put money away in case I am injured and can't work, or need to repair my house or car. Having a shiney new computer that I barely use the full capabilities for on anything other than one single game sure will be nice when I need to have $700 worth of work done on my car because some stoner douchebag without insurance slammed into. I have no transportation, but thank god I don't have to play FFXIV on PS3, that sure does give me a warm and fuzzy feeling. Owning an awesome computer is not everything there is to life, and it is not as important to me as having money put away in case something happens and I need it. Owning a gaming computer is not important to me. Making sure that my family is provided for in every instance is. Maybe you should grow up a little and realize that you're an adult now, and start putting some money away too. You never know when you'll need it."I can't afford it" is a BS excuse. Its not that you can't afford a gaming computer its that you chose not to set aside the money for one. If you think a decent computer costs a few thousand, that speaks volumes on your financial wisdom and its little wonder that you can barely afford luxuries.
My household is not rich, and we definitely have our share of bills, student loans and a mouth to feed but we are able to manage our finances so there is something to put aside for non-essential things.
I saved up about $700 to put together a decent gaming computer over the course of a year but in the end it only cost me $500 since I waited for parts to go on sale. That price is only slightly more than the price of a brand new PS3 was at launch.
I would also question why having a PS3 is priority over having a PC if you are in such dire straits, financially. A gaming console only serves one purpose, entertainment. a PC can be used for entertainment, work or educational purposes.
I have enough for my needs. A shiney new computer that will rarely, if ever, be used for gaming isnt one, and never will be one, therefore I have no need, or desire, to spend that much money on one. Especially when there are so many more important things out there that I could use that money for, like taking my boys to see the sights that the USA has to offer, going out for a night or two with my wife and no kids tagging along (which if you have kids, you will know is VITAL for remaining sane sometimes hahaha) and many other things that I would rather be doing with that money than spending it on a computer that I neither need nor want.

If it bothers someone that much that I play on PS3, I'll give you my email and you can feel free to PayPal me the money to get a new computer. If it really costs so little, you shouldn't mind spending the money.
I play on the PS3 because it's what I'm most comfortable with, it's where my friends are, and it's what I like gaming on. I never got into PC gaming & I only use mine for browsing the interwebs mostly. I could careless about the graphics it's perfectly fine for a PS3 imo, and I'm sure it'll be a hell lot better on the PS4 when it's out(can't waittt). Playing on the PS3 doesn't make us bad players or anything, it's just people do not have patience enough to wait a couple extra seconds for us to skip cutscenes. Tbh I don't think those couple of seconds are gonna make that much of a difference.. as long as the player knows what to do and where to go, you'll finish just as fast as any other time. It makes me sad to see people only shouting for PC players, it stings a little when no one will let you join because you're on a PS3 :<.
I have no problem with people playing on a PS3. Whether it be because of financial reasons, or no PC, it doesn't matter. Also, SE did say that people who bought the PS3 version will get a free upgrade to the PS4 version. Thats pretty damn cool.
