Are all of these forced shutdowns since the "hotfix" damaging our PS3s?

Like these people, I can't exit the game or return to login screen without the system freezing on black screen since the "hotfix." If I turn off the game, the PS3 makes the beeping sound indicating, "You're hurting me!" Even if I manage to make it to the Xross bar, then shut down the system, it still makes the, "You're hurting me!" beep. The orange saving light is not lit when I choose to exit or logout.

I'm worried this is screwing up our PS3s.

well, on PC I noticed sometimes when I teleport the game crashes, and while exiting the game via the inn I also crash. lol

I get this issue on PC when exiting the game too. I have to kill the game process to close it. :/

His post is referring to the PS3 guys. I doubt you would get hardware damage unless you are turning off the back power switch. You may experience data corruption which would require you to reinstall. Your character is saved in SE servers, so nothing is really lost.. just time to reinstall.

Not likely. Most issues with the PS3 stem from the Blueray drive failing or substandard thermal paste application in manufacturing - which leads to crashing in and of itself.

I know he's asking in regards to the PS3, but I wanted to toss in that I also get this issue with the PC. I didn't have it pre patch, but it's pretty common now. So whatever they broke, it seems it broke for all of us.

I believe it is harming it somewhat maybe not a lot, but a little. I've had to shut off my PS3 numerous times because of games that have frozen on me over and over, so it's not just FFXIV that this happens on(I pray every time my PS3 comes back on that nothing gets corrupted). I haven't had a problem with my PS3 yet, but I know of a couple of people that needed to get their blu-ray drive replaced, get a new HDD because everything got corrupted and lost, and even the whole console itself because of the YLOD.

I get this issue on PC when exiting the game too. I have to kill the game process to close it. :/

I've had the same problem since beta, the game freezes and stops responding on exit.
