Windows 8.1, Final Fantasy XIV has stopped working.

Hey guys, im at a wall with this, i was playing fine until last night where i thought it would be smart to update from Windows 8 to 8.1, after doing so i cant get onto FFXIV whatsoever, i can log on but the minute i press the Start button to choose my character it crashes, saying it will look for a solution.

after 5 seconds have passed it give me no options or details just a close program button, any ideas on what i can do??

Hmmm, sad to say, your issue is not linked to win 8.1, as I have upgraded to 8.1 last thursday, and never had any issues. Did you update your GFX driver?

ahh really :/ its not just FFXIV though its a lot of programs, steam has the same problem as does my PC tune up, i havent updated the GFX driver i shall try that, though its weird that the problem only happened once i updated to 8.1 ><

Sounds like the upgrade damaged some registry entries. Easiest fix is a reinstall. You won't lose anything because XIV stores all config and char data in My Documents.

Three different computers upgraded to 8.1 over in our place. None of them have had any problems what so ever.

When i check the error report for the game it says the program is incompatible with Windows 8.1 seems a select few of us have been stung by a bug with the update.

im trying to sort some fixes out now.. see if i can shed some light on it, but i dont think ill have any luck.
