Why ask? It's simple. It's a step backwards. Something you have in other MMOs which gives players something else to do, you can't do here.
Why people keep asking this question when the answer is so damn obvious I don't know.

Well then you're not going to be a very good player according to Yoshida. The game is designed for you to level multiple classes/jobs:If you don't understand you don't have to understand. News flash! People like different things. I'm only interested in progressing ONE job and everything else can gtfo. For me fun is not in leveling all classes or crafting, fun is in end game and hardcore raiding with my single job that i choose and at the moment this game has bare minimum of what you even consider "having an end game".
Yes I know you can probably make it through Titan or whatever not having touched other jobs/classes, but the point is that Yoshi is actually designing the game around people having multiple jobs leveled. So perhaps in the future it will be more of a necessity. Please look forward to it!!y; What else, there is a job identity for all jobs so depending on the content there will be a small difference
y; However in FFXIV ARR it’s designed so you can clear up until Ifrit Hard Mode with just a single class/job to level 50.
y; From Garuda on it starts getting more strict, for Titan hard mode and Bahamut’s Coil you will need additional cross class abilities or you won’t be able to clear.
Im just leveling a cat alt just because she looks cute on whm af an im gonna leave her at 50 lol
I'm all for people leveling alts, but I think people leveling alts have the wrong idea. I understand both sides of the arguement on the forums and this is how I see people on these forums.
Player: "So I can only get 300 tomes per week with 1 character. I'll show SE! I can just make another character and get more tomes for a different class! Hahaha stupid system with stupid rules. I can go around it!"
SE: "Yes, all is working to plan. Instead of the player only playing once per week and possibly lowering the availability of others to progress due to low end game population. Now they are playing the same content 2 or more times a week AND they are paying us more money to do so! Mr. Yoshida, you sir deserve a promotion!"
End result: Player profits. SE profits. Playerbase as a whole profits. Game is actually healthier despite the 10% or less complaining on the forums like it is the end of the world that there is a 300 tome cap per week.
People aren't really complaining about the cap. I don't think you quite understand the issue.I'm all for people leveling alts, but I think people leveling alts have the wrong idea. I understand both sides of the arguement on the forums and this is how I see people on these forums.

The problem is that the cap is shared among all classes. So instead of each class having separate Myth tomes, meaning you could play all classes equally (if you are willing to put the time and effort in), which you can do in any other MMO, instead they completely prevent you from focusing on anything but 1 class. So all it means is that there is less to do in the game.
Why they've done this? Simple, greed. You can get separate Myth Caps/Lock-outs, what do you have to do to get it? Pay a higher subscription fee. It is as simple as that, greed greed greed.

I like how you said I don't understand then continued to describe exactly what I just said.....People aren't really complaining about the cap. I don't think you quite understand the issue.
