Actually I asked for max settings at 60fps and another budget comparison to see how worth it is to save and go all out. I also asked for builds but I should clarify that I mean from the ground up, not prebuilt or barebones. Keys setup is good, would kill the game curious to see his benchmark score on max with it but you can close to his build for about 200 cheaper, I just want to see what others come up with

You can build a comparable machine to that for about $150 cheaper. Find the cheapest mATX board you can buy and some junker $20 case, get an FX-6300, CX430, 8GB of whatever RAM, and drop a 7870 in there. Fill out with cheap 500GB HDD. Tada, better for cheaper.

//EDIT: Note that I'm not particularly advising going with a junk board or anything, just making something more comparable, for what it's worth.

It is not hard at all to build a sub-$800 machine with good parts, but you have to put your money where it counts.
I paired a 650 Ti for the fact that I got it for free when I bought my rig. For this game and all games coming out minus BF4 I can play everything max settings, with no framerate drops at all. For my budget of $1,200 i was able to cut under it by not buying the 770 like I wanted, and it's worth waiting for. Black Friday sale will hopefully be as good as last years on newegg and I can get the 770 for $250 to $300. I bought better parts for one gfx card that pulls less for a reason. This rig will be fully decked out with in a year or so, why buy multiple parts in the future when I can just get it all done now, and just upgrade slower when parts become cheaper by the time I need them.

My best suggestion for a PC less than 800 bucks is go to best buy and grab one on sale then buy a power supply and a video card.

Granted it's not a full build but it's under 800 bucks and includes an operating system and a warranty. Did this for my son about a year ago and he loves it.

Obviously if you have the extra cash go with KyteStone's build. An i5 tears that amd chip in the HP apart. I might even suggest waiting a bit and going with an i7-4770k for the overclocking ability. Would be about $330 just for the chip though.

GPU is the most important part for FFXIV so you need to buy a great one.

I found a decent cpu to be the most important. A 770 in my old machine(amd 3.2 black oc@3.6) gave decent framerates, but when I hit busy areas it would tank to 30-40. Put the 770 in with a better cpu and I now have over 60fps, even in busy situations. It's my understanding that mmo games by their nature are more cpu intensive.

How old was your psu? My 850w psu barely breaks a sweat when playing this game. Its powering a haswell i4770 and a 7970 gpu.

I built my current PC w/ windows 8 OEM copy for right round $900

Break down of whats in it.

    AMD A10 6800k 4.1ghz
16GB DDR3 Don't remember clock speed. It's in the middle of the road.
    256gb Samsung SSD
    1TB Samsung HDD
    Azrock ITX motherboard
    Bit Phoenix Case.
120mm Cooler Master Sealed water cooler.

Did not buy any Peripherals and reused my 750w PS and XFX 5770 for old computer.

Running the game full screen 1080 getting 50 fps with graphic scaled back from max slightly.
just things I don't really care about lick PC & NPC shadows and I think I have Grass turned off most the time.
I have no doubt I could run maxed all the time with a better graphics card.

The best budget CPU you can get currently would be a "Intel Core i7-4770K Haswell 3.5GHz LGA 1150" for roughly $340

The best budget GPU you can get currently would be a "GeForce GTX 660" for roughly $200

That puts you at roughly at $540/800 of your budget... You may want to think about upping that budget to around $900ish to comfortably get everything else required.
