building a pc for this game

And not sure what to build. So I'll shoot two different hypotheticals out there. Let's say you had 800 dollars to spend on a pc, no monitor or accessories needed, just the pc. What would you put in it to get the highestperformancepossible at 1080p at max settings.

Note pretend you have no limit to money, what's the cheapest you could build a pc for that could handle this game at 1080p on max settings while maintaining 60fps. Post both builds and how much they where

you're not gonna find much really if you plan on building it yourself for anything thats worth it less than $1,100 to $1,300 an that's with a cheap GFX 650TI Boost card (which can handle it easily). Cutting corners is not something you wanna do when building. It needs to last, but also be fully upgrade-able. BUT it appears the pc i just built is on a massive sale compared to what I paid a few months ago so here: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1s6pM

My calculations come to $1100 before tax, and thats without a after market cooler. so ya...spot on.
I'd advide another $30 for a Coolermaster 212+, or go all the way and get a Noctua D14.
    Overclock that sucker.
Z87 mobo, I5, 7970( best bang for buck down to $300 these days), psu, case, Windows (oem)

That puts you at roughly at $540/800 of your budget... You may want to think about upping that budget to around $900ish to comfortably get everything else required.
False on a few points. Don't get a I7 for gaming. That's just dumb.
    Get a 4670k
And a 660 was NEVER best budget gpu. 7870/7870 Tahiti wipes the floor with the non ti and meets a 660 ti.
And you can get a 7870 ( tahiti core) for $200..why would you get a non ti 660 for $200.( discontinued btw)
AMD's offering are much better bang for buck ( as usual). You can get a 7970 for $300...or a gtx 770 for over $400.
Or a 7950 for $240 when a gtx760 is $280. Again, better bang for buck, and don't bother with the AMD driver hyperbole, drivers have been fine for quiet some time.

Seriously though... you shouldn't tell someone that wants to build a pc primarily for gaming to get a I7. hyper threading does squat for gaming. I'll leave it to you to Google benchmarks that confirm this.

I bought an x51 from Alienware (despite people's negative reviews around here on Alienware.) It's GREAT. It handles this game easily, 40-60 FPS even in the most congested areas.

For 999.99 I got an i7 4770k, GTI660, and 8 GB RAM. I was having a hard time finding a similar deal on stuff even custom built. I recommend you check it out. They have daily sales from time to time. The only downside is you have to wait awhile for it to get to you but I couldnt be happier with it.
It's not so much "Alienware" those that know better advise against so much as buying prebuilt /big box at all.
I could have built you better, for less. You over payed payed for a shiny logo, a generic or unknown brand of PSU, bloatware, and parts you could have switched out ( I7 for gaming is pointless, non ti 660 is meh)
But hey it's got a cool logo on it.

    1. It's a bigger hassle to build your own computer for people who don't know how to build computers.

    2. 999.99 isn't at all overpriced for the system I got. All about finding the sales with the prebuilts.

    3. There's no custom building a rig with a chassis as compact as an X51. Not everyone has the room for a big hulking computer in their entertainment station.

Don't listen to that guy, it's easy to build a good sub-800$ machine.

    And don't buy Windows.

I'm at work so can't post the full build I had looked up, but very close to mine. Only I went with a cheaper case and don't need an os so I got the price down to around 800, just debating on that build or something else. Seeing if anyone had any better ideas. Only buying one pc and want the best for my buck or save more and go for the dream machine if this can't be done for 800. Do like that build though

Don't listen to me? A little arrogant are we? More like sub-par under $800 with cheap and awful parts from terrible manufactures. Don't buy windows? That's your opinion. If you're not going to contribute a build for him, why bother posting? This post went unnoticed until I made a comment on it. You've given him nothing to go off of but your ignorant attitude.

My build is great imo. Fully upgrade-able to the latest GFX cards, up to 32GB RAM (i see no need for it but at least the possibility is there), I threw the OS in there just because most people think in a pc build it comes with it. Some specials do but not this one. I couldn't be happier with my rig, i never heard it, ultra quiet, core temps are almost always below the norm (nice big extra fans in there I bought). Best purchase I've made.

I will have to agree with ufufu that your build is poor. You've paired a $100 650Ti Boost with $800 in other parts. You have a 750W PSU on a system which will draw less than 300W under load, and that makes no sense at all. It is not hard at all to build a sub-$800 machine with good parts, but you have to put your money where it counts.

This is not sound advice. Do not buy a pre-built; nothing in there is worth using at all. AMD chips are fine, but they do not compete well in high-end gaming uses (i.e. $300 or more on video solution).

It's a cheap solution to get 60 fps out of this game on high settings which is exactly what he asked for. It may not be ideal but as you can see by KyteStones post even a budget machine is going to be almost a grand. Also this build is tested as my son is using this exact setup and he loves it. Constant 60-80 fps while he's playing his FFXIV and GW2.
