    Ignoring/reporting gold sellers

    Heyz

I was wondering if there was any way to ignore and report gold sellers apart from manually typing their names onto the blacklist/report form. Like some sort of more automated means..

It's just that usually their names are some gibberish along the lines of ghdfgdfhdf or whatever, and typing that out is somewhat annoying (yea I know that's the point of their stupid names).

Not to mention that they seem to make new characters every once a while when they are ignored by the majority of whatever server they plague, which for me for instance means typing 1-3 whacky names into the ignore list every day.

There's also /blist charactername. But it still requires typing in the name. Everyone wants a easier way to black list (right click name, blacklist), but there is none at this time. There's honestly much less gold spammers than before, but it's very annoying when you have one guy spamming to fast that you can't see anything at all in the chat box but his adverts >.<

If you're getting tells, /blist add <r> will blacklist the last person to send you a tell.

If it's shouts, or if you're filling out the report form, the best you can do is copy and paste. Click their name, select "Send tell," select & copy their name, then paste it into the report form. (This applies to PC; don't know how well this would work on PS3.) Note that if you have Ctrl+C and/or Ctrl+V bound to something, copying and pasting don't behave correctly.

Ideally would be nice if in the log or chat window you can just click on their name and blacklist
There was one yesterday i could not blacklist and recall it from when i first started the game.
So some have found work arounds to still Spam.
    Real pains in the arse

Easier than typing their name is to click on it and select Send Tell. Then put quotation marks around their name and replace /tell with /blacklist add.

From PS3: I don't know an easy way to report someone, but the workaround for blacklisting without having to spell out their name is to select their name, choose "Send Tell", and edit the message changing /tell to /blist add and putting quotation marks around their name. (You'll need to remove the space after their name or at least don't include it within the quotation marks.) So for instance you'd change:
    /tell ghdfgdfhdf sdfsdf
    into:
    /blist add "ghdfgdfhdf sdfsdf"

Supposedly, SE is going to be adding an option to report and blacklist characters directly from where we select their name, but I don't know when that's due to be added.

Thanks for all the responses guys!

@Elyse: Yea, I didn't mean it as one of those "omg spam bots out of control do something or game will die!!!!" posts. It isn't that huge of an issue, but still something I wanted a means of getting rid of swiftly.

@Ampersand: Admittedly, copy and paste didn't occur to me at all. Should definitely help with the report bit. I'm usually not much of a zealous reporter, but consecutive walls of spam really make ingame communication difficult.

@Inari: Ah sounds good, thanks for the tip!

it is MUCH MUCH better than a month ago SE is working hard on this and really driving these thugs away. I am so glad. What jerks. May they be burned alive by Ifrit and sent to the lowest Hell.

I stopped reporting them at this point. It was really becoming a third job and the paperwork was getting annoying. Was just easier to disable the /shout channel when ever I'm going into one of the cities. If/when they ever add a click on the name in the chat box feature I'll do that and enjoy /shout again. It was really disappointing that such a feature wasn't in at launch. It's not like this is the first time SE has done a MMO or had to deal with spammers.

    /blist add <r>

save this as a macro so everytime you get a /tell from a gil seller all you need to do is click the macro and it will confirm you that you want to blacklist the last person that sent you a /tell
