If CT were out this game wouldn't be so dull for it's 2nd launch.
It's the missing link for release. I just want housing and minigames.
I'm satisfied with the game. Whenever I log in, there's always something to do. Don't have to sit somewhere for hours and hours LFG, just let the Duty Finder take care of everything. Or there's always mining.
Comparing XI and XIV, XIV trounces XI hands down. No stupid PlayOnline system. No more "we can't do this because of PS2 limitations". No lousy console-focused UI. No lousy PS2 port.
Comparing XI right at launch (pre-NA) to XIV ARR now. I would say ARR wins fairly easily.
The question is will it be comparable when it will be Zilart vs expansion 1. Zilart added littearly thousands of hours of content to the game. I question if XIV can do the same due to its design.
Another difference is in XI people were just getting to endgame when zilart launched for the most part. In XIV people are at endgame within weeks, and spamming what little we have.
So XI's longevity at launch was probably 4-5xs higher the XIV's currently.
That is where Old XI had it over XIV, XI had alot more longevity at its early stages.
From a PvE perspective, its greatly lacking compared to what Rift offered. Rift also had very quick content updates early on. I however do not like the direction rift went with free to play, that is why Im here. However the current content was not well thought out... it improved a little bit with making WP an alternative to just AK/CM.
Everything besides Coil is too easy, and provide no reason to run other than phil/myth tomes. Grinding for currency to buy gear is far less rewarding than killing something, and through rng having something you need drop.. IMO. Though currently I think the dungeons are too short, and bosses too easy. Basically everything just seems to lack uh flavor? And just seems bland, boring and repetitive for the sake of grinding tomes, not because you're hoping a certain item will drop from boss x. Sure it gets frustrating, but thats why you have tomes for, to supplement the drops that you do get with ones that you do not. The game needs more gear, and weapon choices, with different procs or reasons to use them.
I know it seems stupid, but I'm hoping the PvP is entertaining enough, as well as content patches add alot.. because right now I cant see myself playing past what I currently have subbed.
i am satisfied
Nice, good input guys. XIV just doesn't have the adventurous feeling XI did. Just doesn't rapture me into the world. Maybe the new content will help me. Chains of Promathia was the best expansion ever made. Hell, I listen to XI music when I go hiking. XIV just doesn't have any memorable tunes
here is the history of FFXI's launch: http://z4.invisionfree.com/HCII/ar/t2095.htm
It took FFXI about a year and a half until NA launch and to get good. I hope FFXIV does the same thing. I'm not exactly satisfied with this game yet...I personally feel it needs a lot more content, especially end game. I am going to stick with it though, seems promising![]()
My opinion is FF11 =/= FF14
People should stop linking these two games just because they share name/similarities.
One can compare but should not forget that these two games ain't the same and never meant to be.
I am enjoying FF14, even if I have to wait 30min for Duty Finder, even if lvling a 2nd class takes longer, even if end game is lacking and even if there are RMT/Bugs/Hacks and other nasty things in the game.
Why? Because all the annoying stuff in FF14 exist in tons of other MMOs.
Duty finder taking ages as a DPS ? Same everywhere.
Bugs Rmt Hacks? Same everywhere.
Endgame is limited due to the game being new (well more like reborn since the old end game is no more) is natural.
People seek problems and whatnot on purpose I think.
I'm playing at a steady and peaceful pace and am enjoying the game very much.
Thank you for caring about my and others opinion![]()
