    Tanking and the enmity meter

The enmity meter shows how much enmity you have generated against the current mobs you're fighting. Green for safe, red for full hate, and so on. This works great for dps and healing, but for tanking, it's rather counter-intuitive. Every mob should be attacking you, and having a bunch of red bubbles indicating so only helps marginally.

I'm interested in having the meter work entirely backwards as a tank. Green when you have hate, yellow and orange when someone is pulling hate off of you, red for if you've lost it. Having to tab through targets to see their enmity levels means that you're essentially in the dark to hate being generated on every other mob in the fight. This way would allow you to react almost instantly when someone pulls a dangerous amount of hate, and seems to make a lot more sense

Not a bad idea, we definitely need a little bit clearer indication we are losing hate, BEFORE the mob turns and starts to eat someone.

I mean you can kinda get a feel for it, but they need to fix it like you suggest, would make complete sense.

THe problem I see with coloring is the there is not enough time between a target going from orange to red, the threshold is set at 90% or 95% i think, and in this game having very close threat range between tanks and dps, its hard to notice in a sea of mobs when a DPS pulls that one mob out before its too late, which I assume will fix itself as gear/game progresses further.

I was wondering a little bar next each enmity meter.
Red if you are first in mob enmity list green otherwise

Bar Full Red = you have 1000+ more enmity than the 2nd character on the mob enmity list.
Bar Full Green = you have 1000+ less enmity than the 1st character on the mob enmity list

so when bar depletes you know if you are losing aggro i you are a tank or if you will be in trouble for the others.

    Something like that

Next to the flashing lights just change the white bar to reflect emnity rather than HP.

    Job done.

Wait, isn't there an actual enmity meter right below each player's class/job icon in the party window? I use that to gauge how much enmity each of my party member's have. Whenever the meter is full, you have the monster's full hate until another party member draws more enmity. It's pretty handy since it tells me if the tank has secured enough hate, whether or not I should cut back on my DPS, or see if any party member other than the tank is drawing more enmity. Granted, the meter only shows the enmity of the targeted monster, but there is no doubt about it's effectiveness as a UI feature.

Personally, I think the colour scheme is fine as is instead of being "counter-intuitive" for tanks. In a battle, red is associated with hostility and it is the tank's job to be the focus of that hostility. Green is a far more docile colour, and cooler colours is what tanks should avoid. Basically, red is good for tanks but cooler colours are bad. That's the way I see it, at least.

    For your current target, yes.

The way the system is built now, seems much more useful for DPS in *not* pulling aggro, than tanks holding it. As was said above, there are many more degrees of progressive aggro generation (green for not even close, yellow for iffy, orange for about to start getting hit, and just one of "this mob is currently attacking you". And, with the way tab targetting is currently implemented, doesn't give tanks a great way to effectively monitor their threat across a number of enemies in a not cumbersome way.

So, when DD do their job all is good?
Seems to work properly. Accept the fact that you can't carry all for your own, let others do their job.
Sure for convienience it would be great, but let em fix other things first.

    I like Random-Number-Generator
'cause I'm able to accept that
a dice normally has six sides
    a pyramid has 5 sides
    a toast has 2 sides
AND I CAN'T PREDICT WHICH SIDES IT FALLS TO.

Why is it always Red and Green? My eyes are broken and can't tell the difference.
