I'd suspect that a lot of those players (myself included) do things with people we know/made friends with, rather than rely on randoms. The fun to be had with playing with friends is so much better than playing with randoms, some of which aim to ruin any chance of people having fun. Once people find like-minded players to play the game with, you really never go back to randoms unless you absolutely have to. Essentially, you're playing the game in the most optimal way, and pretty much always means that you're having the most fun with your time spent, as opposed to those who choose not to take such initiatives (like making friends).
