I dont really consider it variety when im not allowed to choose which one to participate in.

As much as i can understand your point, if theres was only 1 type of competition then there wouldnt be a problem since everyone would have acces to it and would be doing the same competition.

Indeed. And to clarify a bit, I don't agree with their choice to give us two separate contests. At all. I just tried to search for the reasoning behind the choice.

Crass EU laws probably.

SE, Blizzard, all companies have huge problems with some stupid anti-gambling laws in the EU where "games of chance" are rigidly controlled. Turbine has problems with LOTRO for example.

I'm curious to know why they gave the NA player-base the tougher of the three contests... who has armour that looks like mobs? I sure don't and I don't know anyone that does! Haiku content, General screenshot contest? Why not just give them the items for not doing anything! lol

I found it extremely difficult to convey exactly how I feel about All Saints' Wake (which is what the haiku was supposed to be about) in just one verse... so instead I submitted a small snippet and the full version can be seen below =)

My favourite hol
Is now become the victim
Of insult most foul

T'was a fair attempt
To recreate the magick
But did not pay off

Cool Jack-O-Lanterns
Entertaining characters
Sadly not enough

Quest chain was decent
The right amount of silly
If a little short

Hear ye the music
Be it jovial? Cheerful?
Inappropriate!

This Eorzean
Night of Frights imitation
Is frightfully dull

When pumpkins are dimmed
And black witches are berth-ed
And bats returned home

All that will remain
Is some attractive headgear
Never to be worn

Is this truly all?
The month is not yet April
But I feel a fool
