Nope, I don't get to decide and I didn't get to decide. That's my point. The judges get to decide and they DID decide. That ought to be the end of it.
In other words, "I don't find these things valuable enough to pitch a fit over therefore you're wrong in doing so."
You wouldn't react the way we did. Fair enough. You thought it was judged fairly. Fair enough. We have differing opinions. So far yours is a minority voice here. I'm not attacking you for your opinions, but I'm not going to be silent on issues I care about. Just because you don't care or wouldn't react how I do, doesn't mean that I am somehow lesser for my own actions. A criteria was set for the contest and I felt that it was not followed. You felt that it was. By your own logic, you do not get to decide what is and isn't creative either.
Yes, yes, you won. We know. We don't care. You deserved to win and I'm not trying to trivialize that. I can't help but to believe that your view holds bias, yet you want me to quiet up because my view holds bias too. You have a lot of stake in the judges having chosen the pieces that merited it. I have a lot of stake in the judges having chosen the pieces that merited it.
And we disagree. You want me to shut up and just let the winners and judges have their peace, while I would like nothing more than to continue pointing out how sloppy the selection was.
Why is this so important?
Certainly if this were a one time event then it would be easy to let go, but this is a game. A game with exclusive items that players are encouraged to work hard to obtain. If players down turn five by bugging it, might I, too, question the legitimacy of that? If judges value entries with poor composition and lighting over seemingly superior competitors, might I question the legitimacy of that? In both cases I would be disappointed that the "loot" was not obtained based on more rigorous standards.
You said, "Dressing up as Impressio was uncreative. It's a Coatee set and a pumpkin head--bam Impressio...boring." when I brought up seasonal costumes. And although that argument is valid in some regard, subjectivity aside, it is strange nonetheless that no seasonal costumes won.
This didn't deserve to win?
This didn't deserve to win?
Okay pumpkin men aside, what about this one?
Oh, I suppose this one is too easy too, eh? I myself did this NPC as did this person and a few others. But I suppose we weren't creative or unique enough. And the costume was too easy, ya? Having a level 50 weaver, the two month sub bathing suit, and tracking down the appropriate / closest gear and selecting the best dyes.
An honorable mention for this charming fellow as well:

I understand you're unhappy with the results Selkie, but I really think you should just let this go. You're only adding to your own frustration at this point. There were many great entries, I'm sure it couldn't have been easy to only pick 100 when you have 7 times that many. And before you go saying I'm biased as well because I won, let me just say that if I hadn't, I would not be trying to flame the development staff for making what is apparently such an egregious mistake.
The only things the posts like yours and other people upset about this is doing is increasing the likely hood that events like this will never happen again.
Congrats again to the winners, and to everyone else I did really enjoy seeing all the submissions, there are some really amazing ones.

This is the entry in question.
As stated prior, I would wish they not hold contests in the future if they will choose to run them carelessly. I agree with you. Square-Enix, I humbly advise you refrain from future contests if they will be anything like this one. Please stick to in-game contests that will be far less subjective in nature.
I am merely responding to people who respond to me, like you, yourself, are doing now. You need to let me go man. I'm not worth it. As long as you and others respond to my arguments, I will be polite enough to respond back.
That's rude of you to insist that SE should stop having contests just because you didn't like how this turned out. If you didn't like it, then don't participate in future contests. Find other things in life to enjoy! It's ridiculous to demand that they ruin the fun for everyone else just because of your opinion.

I would've enjoyed this event a lot even if I had lost. Even if I had lost and I thought that my entry was better than the winning ones, I still had fun looking at everyone's screenshots and making mine. Sure, if I lost I would've been disappointed. It's fine to believe in your own entry and think that it should've won. But the judge's decisions are out of your hands and you can't prove that they didn't have their reasons for their choices or that they weren't "careful." Even if you argue about who posted an idea first or what their subject/theme was, that doesn't prove anything definitive.
I participated in a screenshot contest event in Aion once. I LOVED my entry and I REALLY wanted to win. But I didn't, and I thought some of the winners had way worse shots than me. What did I do after I was disappointed by that outcome?
