It is one entry, I updated my original. I assumed they meant you could only enter one doppleganger, as in you can't have multiple screenshots of you as different npcs/monsters. Sorry for wanting to get a better pose for everyone since he's in a very awkward place post story. But hey, if you need to be mad at me, go for it.

Not at all. It's the contest organizer that picked the second photo that I have a problem with. I don't blame you.

The problem is they stated only the first SS would be taken into account, they even said to use the discussion thread to post rough drafts, the fact that they picked your second picture kind of goes against the rules they created.

not to mention, people claiming they were in the background of other winner's screenshots when they state NOT to have other players in the SS.

I feel happy for the winners and dissapointed for not being picked, but its mainly because i feel like the rules were ignored and the time/effort taken was random at best (im starting to agree with them taking the random entry from a hat approach, then waiting to give the impression they looked at all of them)

Participants must post one screenshot in the contest entry thread.
(which we have seen ignored, lot of grey area here...but i took this as your first screenshot is your entry, nothing about who/what is in said SS)

Besides NPCs, monsters, and other scenery props, please refrain from including other player characters in your screenshot.

You may use image editing software to crop your screenshots.
(this is obvious for hosting reason's)

You may not use image editing software to enhance or add more features to your screenshot.
(people were honest in their entries so this really doesn't pertain to the judges)

Normal forum rules apply to all posts within the contest thread.
Square Enix reserves the right to judge whether or not material is appropriate for public display. (So naked lala's wearing nothing but a hat is appropriate for public display? xD)

They said: "If multiple entries are posted, only the first one submitted will be accepted." I did not submit more than one entry, I did not change who I was doppleganging as. But if you want to be as literal as only the 1st screenshot will be accepted, I'm fine with that too. You guys are really taking this thing way too seriously.

If this is the kind of backlash the community team can expect for every contest, I can assure you guys they'll stop having them all together.

If this is the kind of backlash the community team can expect for every contest, I can assure you guys they'll stop having them all together.

If they plan to run contests in a similar fashion, it would be for the best that they don't have them. I would prefer contests follow their own guidelines for selection rather than haphazardly throwing something together before work ends on Friday.

Can you really defend seven out of eight sylph entries winning? But none that featured a single seasonal NPC? There were many, many entries that didn't win despite being superior and many that won for... seemingly no reason.

Honestly the biggest problem with all of this is Square Enix's blatant disregard for their own guidelines. I understand that you won, but please look at this from the standpoint of some other people. I want to distance myself from the typical sore loser, I'm not mad that I lost, I'm mad at how I lost. It's obvious that Square Enix made some huge boo boos in the decision making process, and I don't mean in their opinions, as the way some of these were decided is kind of silly. As previously stated, there's tons of duplicates, this is bad, and doesn't follow the uniqueness and creativity promoted.
