Doppelganger Screenshot Contest (NA) - Discussion Thread

I entered the screenshot contest and my picture link is now broken. This sucks because I spent some serious time and gil trying to get the look just right. Minus the gloves I think I nailed the look of the NPC but now nobody will get the chance to see it. Sad times.

I took about a billion screenshots with these lovely La Noscean dancers. It was hard to snap my emotes, all the NPCs, and my minion at the rare moments when they all lined up nicely @_@ But it was also a lot of fun! I'm glad lots of people ended up using this location for the contest, cuz I love it.



I really like how the Roegadyn and Hyur in the foreground frame the shot. But you can't see my matching sandals or my bomb earring that was supposed to compliment my minion! Eorzean photography sure is hard.

Haha! Vaen, you have some great shots! I'm glad you went with the one you did though. It definitely feels the strongest of the four!

Blade-- After checking, I can still see your entry. So, I'm not sure what's going on or if it's on your end. Either way, if there is issue, I'd re-upload your submission using their instructions for Lodestone blogs. It's in the second post on the first page of the submission thread. I hope that helps!

Ebon apparently thinks we should be able to literally transform into our chosen NPC or monster, or thinks no one should dress as anything but NPCs they can manage to look identical to. Me thinks someone might have missed the point in a fun contest.

I loved your snowman/pointer too--and omg, I got such a kick out of the Sylph with the faerie wings.

:3 I'm really glad so many people are enjoying my entry as well. It makes me feel good, so now even if I don't win, I'll know I did a good job and gave some people some laughs.

Seeing on the entry thread, there are some ruffled feathers and/or people with different opinions about what is a valid "doppelgänger." As much as I'd love to reply directly, I'm going to take it to the discussion thread, where it belongs.

Here is a snippet of the original post for the contest:

"To celebrate this year's All Saints' Wake in true spirit, adventurers are being called upon to rummage through their armoury chest and search for equipment that will help them mimic their favorite NPC or monster in Eorzea!"

I'm just highlighting this here, since a few people seem to be taking the "doppelgänger" term too strictly. The contest it self is meant for NPC and monsters-- so obviously, you can't dawn a Behemoth costume. A lot of the entries, mine included, are still just as valid as those opting to do NPCs.

I apologize if this is sounding a bit childish on my end, but I wanted to put my own two cents in on how the contest is being interpreted.
