    Limit Break for Tank, is it useful? when and where can I use it? Should SE change it?

    So far, I have not been able to figure out a useful usage for the Tank LB. I even tried to use LB3 against titan AOE after we missd the heart and it had no effect and we all died anyway.

    I was wondering if anyone has used Tank LB and find it useful somewhere?

    Should we ask for a change?

    No ingame mechanic is supposed to save you from boss insta-wipe attacks (like titan if u miss the heart) .

    If you get to the point where it could be useful the battle is already over, if you need something like that to survive then clearing the content is not gonna happen with that group. They could add all sorts of buffs to it but people will always opt for a damage LB in any competent group. Maybe a healer LB3 as a last ditch effort. Now it could be possible for SE to add a gimick of some sort of damage attack that will hit the party and no way you can heal through the damage to give a reason to pop the Tank LB so everyone survives. Something like a Giant meteor crashing down on the party or something similarly crazy, but that's the only reason I can think to use it.

    Well, it does seem to have its moments - honestly I don't mind my current main's limit break being heavily situational; just makes it kinda neat when we do get to use it.

    Anyway, the occasions always springs to mind was during a fight with storymode Garuda - yes it's not hardmode but level sync still means a measure of challenge. Anyway after several wipes primarily around the transition where she blows away the stone pillars, we all got frustrated and someone suggested this time around we just try having me (the tank) fire my limit break right before she'd do that huge, unblockable AoE attack (we were averaging about oh.. 3/4's of the pillars intact? Maybe a little less?). Anyway, she hops to the middle, does her little wind-up, I fire the level 2 tank limit break and shield the party.. and lo and behold we come out the other side, our healer patches up the little we took, and we proceed to flatten Garuda with comparative ease thereafter.

    So it certainly does have its uses. Same goes for the other limit breaks. Of course the single target damage one will always be the most used since challenging enemies tend to have a thing you want to hit hard at some point, but the others have their moments. I've seen the Healer limit break pull us back from the brink of a wipe where nothing else would have done (admirable healer pulling that off, since the challenge is seeing when it's necessary and being able to react in time), and we just wiped over and over on the Aurum Vale until a black mage joined in and gave us access to Meteor to destroy all those seedlings when things started getting out of control toward the end of the fight with Miser's Mistress.

    Sure thing!
    I mentioned titan as an example where I would want to use a tank LB. It is not why or why not it is not blocking "isnta-wipe"
    But what I mean if you compare LB3 for WHW, BLM and melee classes, Tank LB is nothing. was wondering if anyone is using Tank LB?

    Yeah, the usage situation for tank LB is the same as healer LB imho, but healer LB is far better cuz insta-raise. It's all a bit imba from the tank's perspective I suppose; so, the short answer to your question is "no, you'll never use it."

    Maybe if you're in a light party with two bards and no one is on the verge of death. And even then, just maybe.

    My problem with the tank LB is that it is useful. But 99.9% of any scenario where the tank LB would be useful, so would the DPS Monk/Drg Limit to do dps. If you have a level 3 LB and the boss is at 5% and your going down, sure you might pop LB3 Tank LB and live and down it, ORRRR you could just mnk/drg LB it and insta kill it. Insta Killing it with ST LB3 is a better decision (on a risk based assessment) than using Tank LB3. So imo the only time it makes since to use a a Tank LB is when your drg/mnk are dead (or you dont have any) and your blm is dead, and your smn is dead, and the only DPS you have up are BRDS (they don't have a dmg LB). But even in that situation it would be better to LB3 as a healer and rez everyone.

    The only real time I've ever seen it be useful is on phase 5 in titan when all your non brds are off the edge. (they can't do dps and they can't be raised). You can Tank LB3 through the tumults in a pinch for the win.

    Imo limits should be more like this

    Paladin -> LB 1 = Global Rampart, LB2 = Global Rampart and Sentinel, LB3 = Global 12 second hallowed ground
    Warrior -> LB 1 = Global Foresight, LB2 = Global Foresight and Thrill of Battle, LB3 = Global ForeSight, Thrill of Battle, and warriors next inner beast is 1 * Party Member Count distributed evenly to group.
    Whm -> ???
    Sch -> ???
    Brd -> LB1 = 25% MP/TP Restore, LB2 = 50% MP/TP Restore, LB3 = 100%MP/TP Restore
    Drg -> ST LB
    Mnk -> ST LB
    Smn -> Summons something bad ass not the mini things, Like maybe LB3 Could be phoenix from FF7 and it does dmg and raises all dead poeople.
    Blm -> Fine as is

    you are right and thanks for your input. I was questioning the Tank LB compare to others and you say you managed to survive Garuda AOE by using it. That is good to know. I tried it for titan HM and it did not help at all. So I was wondering if we need a LB3 buff for tanks

    This is really deep ^^.
    I hope devs would have plans to improve LBs in the future. It would be nice to have varity of LBs like what you explained.

    Foresight isn't remotely good enough and neither is thrill of battle. I'm all for class specific limit breaks, but the WAR skills aren't good enough to justify working them into the LB's.

    IMO they should all be somewhat tailored to the job.

    PLD = Global Dmg Reduction
    WAR = Global Health Increase and Heal (30-60-90%)
    MNK = Single Target Dmg + Party Skill Speed Buff
    DRG = Single Target Dmg + All Resistance Debuffs
    BLM = Stays as is
    SMN = Big Summons
    BRD = Support, restores TP / MP, and at level 3 gives unlimited use of both for 10 secs
    WHM = Group Heal
    SCH = Group Shield

    Anyhow that's how I see them adding a little more flavor.
