    Laptop Decision Help!

    I will be going to Japan (from USA) for a few weeks in December. I need help getting a decent laptop under $1300. I have been out of the game for awhile seeing as my last laptop was a ASUS VX7-SX. I also want to be able to play at least medium - ultra settings.

    What is everyone using? How well does it perform?

    Thanks for the help in advanced!

    I'm a laptop user and I play this game on laptop, my advance is to get a PC. You can't upgrade a laptop. And for $1300, you can get a rockin PC that can play this game on max.

    I don't like Acer but for the price it's the better bang for buck laptop out there atm

    I'm also a laptop player. If you are willing to throw that much money on a laptop I would recommend spending on a pc.

    Few weeks in Japan enjoy the time there.

    I bought a Lenovo y500 about 6 months ago. Cost me about $900. Has a nvidia gtx650 gpu in it. Could've upgraded it more but I run the game with maximum settings with no hiccups. :-)

    This is my favorite for that price range honestly, it doesn't get any better than this for FFXIV performance.

    I would recommend this one:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834152462

    Features to note:

    * bluetooth 4.0 (use wireless controller to play FFXIV)
    * NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M (2gb card with a lot of punch)
    * 6-cell lith ion battery (more battery life than the average laptop)
    * 1TB of harddrive space (so you can have lots of games installed)
    * 1600x900 screen resolution
    * 17.3" screen
    * windows 7 home premium

    The only issue I find with this laptop is the weight. Computer professionals call these type of laptops "mobile desktops" as they're heavy. Since you're traveling, you will be carrying your laptop as a carry-on in the airport. This laptop is 5.9 pounds. Unless you're strong and have the stamina to hold it for those long lines, I wouldn't go with it.
