    Best gathering for profit?

    Hello,

Looking to get into Gathering since I hate crafting

Would like to know which gathering class is best for profit?

    Thanks!

I would say that gathering Allagan Tomestones is the most profitable, as the bots take care of the rest. You can make a bit of money from lvl 50 nodes but even that market is getting saturated.

Market is flooded with high level gathering items due to botters and the fact that tons of people are leveling DoL jobs themselves. Unspoiled items aren't going for much either.

i do pretty well from clusters. they sell anywhere from 300-700 each on my server. its a ton of gil but if i farm a little bit each day, i usually make 20k or so.

You simply can't farm one item. Try to farm a few stacks of each gem and ore, then sell them when they're high on the marketboard. You can see one log or ore type range from 20 gil to 100 gil/each depending on when you put it up.

As negative as I can sound in some of my other posts, I actually have a positive answer for this. Diversify as much as you can. Fishing to get red coral, mahi mahi and fullmoon sardines. Botany for Crawler cocoons, Walnut logs, mahagony (SP), mining for silver, mythril, electrum, darksteel and gold.

Couple the gathering with a craft or two and sell materials to other crafters, in particular high quality leve turn in items, and you'll find yourself with a pretty penny soon enough.

Diversification also leads to flexibility when the tides shift. Namely should they change the way a certain class functions or what it can or cannot provide. You never know what the next big thing will be and it's easiest to be ahead of it when you're already sitting pretty at fifty with a sound system for gil in place.

This very much, sticking with one class will bring in a penny but diversity will give a higher payout in the end.

Aside from that, the market will be shifting whenever new items and recipies are released through patches.
If you can provide for the early demand, you can rake in extremely good cash from the initial rush.

electrum ore and flax seems to be the only items that are really in demand due to spiritbinding. Flax being the most popular cause you need so much.

On Diabolos - Flax, Mythril Ore, Electrum Ore, Red Coral, Crystals, Crawler Cocoons, and higher levels of Logs from Botany are 50 - 100+ gil at most times. Sometimes the market will get flooded, but these items all have strong demand due to being in BiS items or many, many items, and the value always picks back up. These items should be hot on any server.

Level 30ish gear, which is virtually as good as 45+ gear when it comes to crafting materia spirit bonding due to the speed they spirit bond and the high value they retain.
