How does this impact you? If people want to play twice as much, why should others care? If we can satisfy everyone, with different expectations, different playstyles, how is that not better for the game and the community overall?

How do you expect to do that in a game in a genre predicated on creating an atmosphere of infinite gameplay (often through artificial time sinks) when everyone wants all the best gear in two months? These complaints have nothing to do with playing twice as much, they have to do with wanting the best gear for a singular component of a broad game RIGHT NOW, mainly battle classes, and getting mad for some really strange reason because it takes longer then you want. Silly.
I think you didn't read the requests in this thread properly. It's not about having it "now", it about being able to gear several jobs on a single character. How do you expect to do that in a game in a genre predicated on creating an atmosphere of infinite gameplay (often through artificial time sinks) when everyone wants all the best gear in two months? As I explained in my previous post, there is no impatience whatsoever in wanting to work on several classes. It's called "rerolling" and implies that a player has to put the exact same amount of time into each of her "rerolls" or "alts". I do 5h/week for 1 job, if people want to do 10h/week for 2 jobs, then there is no "shorter path" involved. furthermore, their "main job", the most advanced, still requires exactly the same amount of time (IRL, months; and IG, 5h/week + coil runs) to obtain the gear, since caps are still in place.
Also, and I say this very humbly, you shouldn't confuse the lore (FF etc.) with reality (running a MMORPG with clearly identified players expectations found in every other MMO, etc.) Your idealism is touching, but that "atmosphere of infinite gameplay" is just PR/lore/fiction. We're talking about game mechanics and progression management. Whether it's sci-fi or fantasy, with a great atmosphere or not, has pretty much nothing to do with the topic at hand.
I don't get mad. You seem pretty agitated and condescending (calling others" silly"), though. And you still haven't told us how it impacted you that others want to play twice as much.

It doesn't harm or affect anyone in a negative way. All it does is make the game more enjoyable for more people and a better game overall. That's what's so confusing, people arguing against this and defending coil lock out timers and myth tome caps when doing changes to make it so all jobs have their own myth tome cap and every job can enter coil per week or no cap on coil and just loot lock outs, so you're able to gear up jobs just as quick on a single character as making a new character for each job, does nothing negative to impact ANYONE, it is simply making the game MUCH MUCH better. Why is it so hard to understand that the game's main defining feature - the armory system, should allow you to play and gear all jobs on one character just as quickly and easily as making another character for every job, as advertised?
It's like these people who keep saying "You just want easymode! Quick and easy gearing all your jobs in two months! Whine less!" don't understand you can make another character for every job you want to level and do exactly that, the problem is the armory system is being ignored and not utilized at all.
Not sure what's so hard to comprehend about that. It's just, baffling, INCREDIBLY baffling.
There's literally no point in the armory system's existence at the level cap for battle jobs, that needs fixed and almost all of the dev's attention.
Please stop arguing against things that will make the game more enjoyable for more people and have no affect on people who don't need it.
edit: Also, if you do not understand the issue at hand, please read this thread to understand it properly before forming an opinion on it, PLEASE. Thank you.

I don't understand why you cannot accept the fact that the game is designed to time sink you. You do in fact still have the option to run multiple characters per server. Why don't you go ahead and do so? You have already listed the perks for doing so, and you are unable to wait for the easing of content caps and want it right now so go get it right now. On a second character. In here you want to gear other jobs, but in the link, you want to go into coil, just to play a different job with no possibility of loot? In some ways I see what you mean, but let's make sure we try and stay on topic. And you can't say the armory system is ignored and not utilized at all. You are ignoring the time sink and its purpose and want it changed to suit your needs as opposed to how SE designed it. I will agree 300 tomes is a small amount and a bump in cap would be nice. However, the game still allows you to do what you need to. You just can't max gear everything right away, and the lockout exists as it stands to be the time sink it needs to be. Gearing up multiple characters will still take longer than doing jobs on one character in a sense that you will have to hit 50, make sure you have your cross classes, and complete everything in game. Plus making sure you even have the skill to play your jobs will be nice as well.It doesn't harm or affect anyone in a negative way. Denial is pretty powerful in this genre, I mean it's OBVIOUSLY a time-sink designed due to lack of content and the fact people seem to think it's impossible to gear multiple jobs on one character because it takes time is just...silly. Honestly, it's a time sink and nothing more - nothing in this game is impossible in current design - the only thing impossible is if you have zero patience and want everything now and you can't get that.
yes, people should be able to do what they want and then not be restricted by in game mechanics that don't allow them to do that, I understand this. But the fact of the matter is that most people don't have that stuff yet and get irked by hearing others complain and flood the forums about stuff like this. Furthermore... the sensationalist thread title makes the whole claim ridiculous. Once iLvl 80 gear comes out, this whole argument becomes buy estupido
