Minor problem with Sleep spell and Chocobo companion

When I use Sleep spell and switch target (happens when the mob resisted my Sleep spell or the mob was not within the Sleep spell radius, my companion simply turns into Healer mode (although the stance still says Free Style). Only way the companion will spring into action is when I continue killing the initial target without switching or when the initial target wakes up.

I am not sure if this is intended but I think the companion should attack the target which I use damage spells on. Good thing that the companion do not wake them up by hitting the slept ones.

I think this might be a bug. My companion doesn't switch to healer mode when I sleep something he is attacking.

Switch him to Follow Stance and then back to Free Stance, he will attack the next target you attack.

Chocobos only focus on one target at a time (the first target you hit) until it is dead or the Chocobo is switched back to Follow stance.
It's actually a blessing that the AI STOPS attacking your target whenever you cast sleep on it...

(They don't go into "Healer Stance" when you sleep something, but they DO get told to stop using weaponskills or autoattacks temporarily. The difference is subtle, but you'll notice that they still don't cast ChocoCure on you until you hit 50% HP - the same threshold as in Free Stance. Healer Stance typically starts curing you when you drop below 75-80% HP)
