    Crafting cross classes

I have a Weaver and Goldsmith at lvl 38. A guy in my FC (I think) just told me yesterday that I was missing a lot not raising Culinarian and the others at least at lvl 15. So I checked it now. Blimey! Does the Culinarian lvl 15 really have an "hasty Touch which "Increases quality and requires no CP"? I think I am travelling to Limsa Lominsa ASAP.

Any other suggestion? Oh, since we are here… How does Brand of Lighting work? What's that "lightning affinity"? I tried to use it in a recipe using Lightning Shards but it was useless, no 200% progress. O_o

You get "Tricks of the Trade" (I'm pretty sure that's what it's called) from Alchemist at 15. It allows you to convert any "good" to 20 CP, and I use it all the time. It is quite powerful when combined with Hasty Touch and the 20% boost for 22 CP (can't remember the name of that one offhand). It can also be very risky, but I rarely see more than 2 failed hasty touches in a row.

Edit: I always start with Inner quiet, then use Steady Hand to bring up my Hasty Touch chance to 70%. I use steady and hasty together to get the most out of Inner Quiet before finishing up with better touches. I've has about 75% HQ with recipes that are at my craft class's level this way.

Yeah, I was looking into that as well. But doing so I lose a "Good" shot, don't I? Is it worth it?

Yes. The more CP you restore, the more Durability you can restore/not lose (Master's Mend, Manipulation, Waste Not, etc.). Which means more shots at Hasty Touch.

If you reach a point where you know Tricks of the Trade won't bring in enough CP to restore/save Durability, and you don't need the CP you've got for anything else, you can use a Touch on a Good to push for one last bit of Quality. Edit: Or if your CP is already full. Until you reach that point, Tricks is better than a Touch.

Ok, let's say that my current starting pattern is the following:

    - Inner quite
    - Great Strides (twice the quality)
    - Steady Hand
    - Standard Touch

A Good Standard touch raises the HQ considerably, also for the next steps. Also I may do something else waiting for good or excellent. It does wonders with many items at 40 dura.

I wonder how I can fit those two in the middle. But I guess the best thing is to try myself. I just hope it doesn't get over complicated. Still the worst thing doing all classes is that my inventory is packed already just raising Alchemist to lvl 10. But yes, I can resell/discard the useless junk.

My rotation for anything 40 durability up to level 35 is Inner Quiet -> Waste Not -> Steady Hand -> 3x touch -> Great Strides -> Touch -> Hasty Touch -> Careful Synthesis (replace Hasty with Careful if you can't finish it in one shot).
For 70 durability it goes: Inner Quiet -> Waste Not -> Steady Hand -> 2x Hasty Touch -> 3x Touch -> Steady Hand -> Hasty -> Great Strides -> Touch -> Careful Synthesis x2.
It might differ for you depends on how many synth step you need, how much CP you have (Accessories help a great deal) and what your current stats are.
You want the very last touch to get Great Strides for greater effect.

Think of all the times you've had a Good condition but you either couldn't do a Touch right then or it wasn't convenient to do a Touch right then. Now think if every one of those times you could've just had 20 CPs instead.

Michelasso, no one has mentioned that Hasty Touch has a 50% success rate but it's very good to have, as with all the level 15 cross actions. From what I've read on the forums it seems crafters decide to do one of two things, either burn CP for success rate on touch or they use Hasty Touch and save their CP for durability increases. Personally I use Hasty Touch when I'm out of CP but still have durability left to burn. I don't have all the cross actions yet though but I'm in the process of getting them.

hasty touch is pretty good buff on HQ when u ran out of CP & still has durability to spare
waste not gives u lesser durability to consum during crafting

i dont regret taking up all crafting class instead of focusing 1-2 since theyre pretty much dependent to each other

Raise culinarian to 37 for steady hands 2. Level carpentry to 50 for Byregot's blessing, and all other classes to 15.
