Guildleves are perfect for what they were made to accomplish though. The problem is it was the only content available at launch.

(They were designed for people who couldn't play extended amounts of time, let alone everyday.)

The game is updated every month or two, sometimes twice a month. They know better than to give a time frame to this community lol. What happened when they announced patch 1.18 would be in June instead of May?

    People complained.

Do you have any idea what we were expecting on Sep 22nd 2010? We were expecting hundreds of quests, voice-overs, multiple new zones, including Mount O'gahmoro and Ishgard, we were expecting Chocobos and Airships and a functioning UI, market ward system, and combat system.

News that the combat system might now begin to function is not impressive. It does not "stump" us. It should have been in at release.

Also, why SE once said that "auto-attack is crucial to the new combat system" is beyond me, considering that the most recent explanation of the battle system proves nothing of the necessity of its inclusion. Earlier, Akihiko said the new battle system "just couldn't work without auto-attack", and yet from his recent synopsis of the system, auto-attack seems to add nothing.

They created the new system around whiners who didn't want to "spam 111" during combat, or who wanted to flirt in LS chat instead of having fun while fighting.

That's what really grinds my gears. SE will cave to whoever whines the hardest. Pathetic.

Thing is, the current battle system is fine for what it is - Serverside interface is causing a lot of problems. Throw in the unbalanced nature and poorly designed actions, then it all compounds. The game was released far too early and yes this is a legitimate reasoning as much as people want to say otherwise.

Imagine if ME3 was released right now, it won't be as good as it could have been now would it?

Voice overs were stated EXPLICITY before launch they would be present in a lot of the main storyline cutscenes, so why people expected otherwise I'm not sure.

Most MMOs I've played their vanilla stage is always limited in zone count. Always. Some have more than others but it's always on the low side compared to an MMO that's been out and expanded upon for years. Even Rift has a low zone count for the hype it generated and when it was released.

Anyone who's played or even read about any of SE's MMOs should have known that Ishgard was never going to be in at release, especially as the 4th and neutral city.

Oh who cares what excuses you give? We all know you were on FFXIVCORE.COM like the rest of us anticipating Ishgard.

I've played all of their MMOs before - I was expecting it in one of the major updates after the launch, but not at launch since I seen how the game was going to inevitably end up the same way XI did at initial launch.

I'm not so sure to be honest, I have some serious reservations about what they have planned for the update (like jobs being unavailable until you reach a certain class rank) but I'm waiting on my critique of that until they actually release it. What I have a serious problem with is how slow the work is going. It seriously took you guys from January until May to even decide what you're going to do with the class/job system? How much longer will we actually have to wait to see these changes, another 4 or 5 months?

I don't know, everything in this game, from the amount of time in between missions, to the wait on updates all feel entirely too slow. It's like watching grass grow or paint dry or water boil, I know it takes time but for the love of god at least give us something to do in the meantime. It feels like this game is running on a skeleton crew or something...

Maybe it's me, maybe I just don't have the patience for online games anymore. I dunno, I just feel really burnt out right now. I hope this game becomes something great and fun, I really do, but I don't think I have the patience to wait it out until it does.

I'm gonna take a break for a while, have fun in the meantime everyone. =)

UMMM did you ignore alot of stuff? They STATED ffxiv was going to be the same size AT LAUNCH. As FFXI AT LAUNCH. they meant the jp ps2 launch.

For the record, ffxi was launched to the ps2 in japan first. That is where the largest part of the jp playerbase is. Japanese are not huge on pc gaming.
Time line as followed ffxi ps2 jp release>> jp pc >> NA pc >> NA ps2 >>> world 360 more or less.

tbh any mmo who releases too much content too soon is doomed to fail. As peopl race to max then bum rush all the content. And end up quiting/waiting for more content to rush through.

and we seen with how the game was perceived at release what happens to a game when it is released with almost 0 content at all.
