    My mistake, then.

    Talk about throwing the baby out with the bathwater. It would kill the entire crafter/gatherer dynamic, since everyone would have to do everything themselves. Making it so that people can't cooperate with each other for anything besides combat is ridiculous; friendships are built over that sort of thing.

    To me, battle content (especially FATEs, but also Duty Finder) is extremely impersonal. Nobody is interested in talking to each other. I've made a few friends pugging, but for the most part, my friendships are built around my crafting classes, because they're more long term, and knowing how someone deals with money feels more familiar to me than knowing whether or not they can avoid red circles on the ground.
