It's not that the game would be better without gil. Its that the game would be better if the ah were adjusted to not show all the prices an item is listed at, you couldn't gear your char from 1-50 by doing quests instead of buying/crafting them, and if se would crack down on the win sellers who do nothing but encourage ppl to buy gil.

If there was a decent way to make gil and put a lil bit of restriction on win selling than the economy would stabilize more and the concept of gil would be more important. Right now the only thing to do with it is save it for housing
