Party search tool and it's functionality??

I've been experimenting with this tool and once haven't managed to locate a party with it. The system in XI for grouping worked really well, you always knew what was available for a party, and would be able to build a group accordingly. The issue I am fearing is that we have another broken tool, that's not really going to be a lot of use to us. I would love to party, I really enjoyed it in XI, I play an MMO to group and all that fun stuff. /Shouting randomly for groups is definitely not the way to do it. If there are any devs out there...is it planned to get a working LFG finder (simplify it...it doesn't need to be complicated..it just needs to work), or are we supposed to solo until 50 it seems. A lot of things have improved a ton since release...I believe everything is going in a good direction, I'd really like to get into groups more and start partying like the good ol' days

Really the FFXIV party tool is not that bad. You can specify what class you need then anyone who wants to party uses search and joins up. Issue is no one uses it so you will never get a party with it. But it does work, it use to work all the time in October before they killed partying because of the first massive sp nerf, ever since then people stopped using them because they migrated towards linkshell event groups instead of random groups.

I think the fundamental problem with the tool is this, there are less people willing to search for people then there are people who want to party. Sorta like in XI how maby 5-10% of the population made party while the other 90-95% just seeked party all day. So there is just no one who uses it. That and the fact people despise change. This is different then XI's so no one gives it a shot "it is too hard to figure out", "it does not work" are common complains which just are not true. And outside XI no one groups until endgame so in thier minds we are nuts trying to group to just level up.

Honestly I bet if say the 4 largest linkshells on each server ran multiple leve/non leve groups with the search feature for 1 week and got people using it. The search would pick up from that point on. Whole reason no one uses it is because no one uses it..... sorta a cyclical problem isn't it.

The problem with the system is it's too rigid and not quite up to date.

All it has on it's purpose option are levequests and quests. There's nothing like "SP Parties" or "NM Hunting." Granted you can use "Purpose: None" and use the recruitment message, but then that'd require a lot of reading through messages (if this system was popularly used).

The search function is even worse since it requires you to pick a class and search based off that. They should ask a "Any" option under the Class tab. They also need to add on dungeon areas into their location tab.

Last time I checked, if you haven't equipped that job before you can't " recruit " them. I could be using it wrong, and correct me if i'm wrong. And I know that they were wanting everyone to level all of them, but if im working on 2-4 jobs, why should I have to buy other classes weapons just to search for the job? Also, FFXIV's party....thing is just way to detailed if you want to party quickly. How does FFXI's take longer? If there was adequate amounts of people LFP, I could make a group in five mins give or take. Need people from a specific nationality in FFXIV for a quest? Well good luck. Specific race? Nope. Job? Hopefully they have the right group for what that job is wanting to do.

And sea all/ you could customize what you're looking for in mere seconds. sea all/ pld, sea all/ elv, sea all/ lvl 20, ect.
There's no way FFXIV's party whatever you wanna call it even compares to how easy it was to find exactly who you
were looking for in FFXI. Just saying.

I'd honestly be happy with a mix of the two.

It needs to be simplified in this manner:

Looking for a group to join:
    1) Open Party menu
    2) Select "Join a Party!"
    3) Select your role and rank.
    4) Select the kind of party you want (leves, grinding, quests, even crafting searches)
    5) Add additional search function if you want to seek on multiple classes and ranks
    6) Option to show your current leves, wanted craft and recipe, or quest information (simple pop up tooltip with all 8 named leves, and their location, nothing too obstructive)
    7) Begin seeking! (Your flag is up, an icon next to your name or in your buff bar shows you as seeking a group, icon could be dynamic depending on what you are seeking too.
7a) Open Party menu > Search for current groups seeking members - shows you all current searching groups in the game and information on what they are seeking for

    Creating a party:
    1) Open Party menu
    2) Select "Start a Party!"
    3) Select criteria for party - Ranks, function (leves, grinding, quests and crafting too)
    4) Option to seek for a specific class
    5) Note option to show people what your party plans
    6) Option to show your current active leves without having to use the auto translate, simple pop up tooltip listing the leve name and camp would be enough
    7) Begin recruiting! (A star could appear as an icon next to your name to let others know you are currently seeking for a group).
7a) Once you are recruiting, open Party menu to select "Manual Search" to show everyone either withing level range, or every player with their flag up, allowing you to pluck and choose, and send tells to the people seeking, however with the auto-invite (which I love), this might not always be needed.

These are very simple functions, that would massively improve the current clunky party interface. There really is no need to over complicate everything SqaureEnix, sometimes a simple step is needed, as at the moment, I have not once been successful using recruitment for more than 2 members.

Also, a simple /search function command would do wonders, as currently, unless you are in visual range of anyone, there is no way to determine where they are in the world, what level they are, or class. Also, add their rank next to their name, and possibly the class icon too. You have no idea how annoying it is to join a Behest, get to the first group, only to find everyone spamming Sacrifice II and no damage spells, as you got 8 Thaumaturges.

A little more clarity helps to organise and plan, and allows you to prepare better for situations.
