This thread is the equivalent of watching 1.xx videos. You guys are all making me really sad and I miss everything that's been mentioned and more.

Don't know if it's been mentioned, but I miss belts, and physics on clothing, the way your character leaned into a run and took a moment to stop. Also, my path of the twelve companion. I played a female Miqo'te because they were gender locked at the time, and my path companion (also a female Miqo'te) was seriously hitting on me. Lesbian cat action was weird, but kind of funny, and the dialogue for the companions was really well written.

I miss the way dodos used to undulate.

I miss the great job they did with the camera movements during cutscenes in 1.0. Whoever was on that task should be hired right away back in! Cutscenes feel so dull and non-cinematic in 2.0.
1.23 was an amazing rework of the materials given and bloomed as impossibly brightly as the 1.0 engine could and there IS A reason why it endd when it did.
All of this can be attributed to Lord and Savior Radiant Yoshi-Producer Savior of the Gaming World and He who Designs Most True. He snatched us from the clutches of The Tanaka and delivered us into a new more robst future like a magical elf grandpa.
1.23 and 2.0 were developed at the same time and 1.23 died as it did bcause it was beautiful poetry sculpted from tainted tarting materials that could never be further redeemed, it reache its highest art and then isappeared before it could be learned to be scorned, you will forever miss it from its glorious ascendance.
Now Yoshi P and his disciples the Fox and the Souken have had time to prepare their great works, all the while putting mere mortal development teams to shame with the armada of content they lay before us to behold in its imperfect but rising evolution of quality.

I wish they had a 1.0 server, you could transfer to for a little while, just to get your nostalgia on, and work on some of those legacy achievements that will never get completed now.

The Legacy selection in the achievements window doesn't even appear for non-legacy members. So they don't have this glaring "what I am missing forever" spot on their screen.
So sadly I don't think there will be much outcry for that.
There is, however, ways to play 1.0 if you know where to look. Or at least basic amounts of it. Get the feel and the weight and the maps back.

(2/2) But the way this game is setup you couldn't get rid of DF. This juggling game between casual/hardcore is annoying. If you don't have the time to play then you'll just not get as much done. MMO's are meant to be time consuming and can take your life away. I think SE is trying too hard when you simply can't please everyone. I miss the old dungeon styles. Why is every dungeon 4-man just about, when some of them were originally 8 in 1.0? There should be party sized required quests and more variety. Right now there's just too many people to please I guess, who knows, so they just increase the amount of content to keep us occupied, but lose the quality. This coming patch and then the coming expansion better be bigger than this game is now.Theirs just not enough balance.
It would seem the old generation is fading, and the spoon-fed new generation has the majority. Increase the realm submersion, and enough with this solitary confinement to an endless stream of instance's devoid of open-world.

If MMOs are taking your life away, I would say you have a problem. There's a difference between enjoying something and letting it completely take over and dictate your life to the point of going out of your way to keep sustaining that lifestyle. I remember how MMOs were before instances and things like duty finder and no thank you. I would queue up for hours before dungeons, trying to find or form my own party which could take several hours to fill, and then hoping someone was clicking fast enough when the previous party left the dungeon so that we could get in with all the dozens of other people also trying to click fast enough to get in. I spent a lot of time not playing games I was supposedly playing because I did a ton of sitting around and waiting, since the alternative was to grind endlessly on mobs for weeks on end.

Open world is that I miss so much the zones fill so small to me, I really wish they still kepted the open world to the game, and I dont 100% like the new UI it looks to modern to me and not fantasy like and the animation felt better in 1.0.
