I just wanted another 1.0 run on a better engine with better graphics and design. Same game, just restructured and polished with more content to each areas looks to be more unique. Everything is just too squashed together in 2.0 and there's no level of terrain, like climbing a mountain to find a whole new area. The economy sucks theres no real market value to base your product off of, in 1.0 items had a better Npc price marketing that helped establish the worth of items. Now everything you npc is just worth a few gil, I remember getting rich off treasure runs in that lvl15 cave in limsa sposhae or whats its name just by selling the loot to npc, making 300k or better. Everything is toooo solo catered and hand -fed to you, and very easy to hop in and join any content. I remember having to level a glad to like 36 or so just for the move "sentinel" so I could do ifrit runs, and if you didn't like glad ohh well it was a necessity.

I miss having quests that needed 2 to 4 people to complete and being in a party often to progress through the game. I miss open-world grinding on mobs or NM's; I absolutely hate Fates as a replacement; i'm not saying get rid of them, just saying they shouldnt be the main source of open content, even if theres all kinds of them it still feels stale. I miss Natalan raids for sentinel gear and a mask for THm, having to move precisely and plan every step you take and pull just the right mobs to even move from camp to camp, many failures happen, but it was fun when you finnaly achieved your goal. 1.23b battle system still rocks way better and is more strategic.

They messed up thm/blm so much I don't like my favorite class anymore in this new system, Mp seems endless and theres no worry of over powering and getting too much hate, and using freeze to reduce hate. Man I loved using BlM for Skirmish runs!!
In Garuda fights TP was very important for Bard, but now TP is practically non-existing, and you don't need to build TP to use special moves, you can just chain and spamfest things without a care in the world.

Grinding in wolf camp would get you 1300-1900exp per wolf and you could pull many mobs and earn yourself lvl50 starting as a lvl40ish. Mobs just are worthless nowadays and have no real exp, I feel like i'm a noob still getting only 200-300exp all the time, except in dungeons its alittle better, but not enough, and is not an endless supply re-popping and able to pull 6-12 monsters. We need more 8-man dungeons; Darkhold was so much more challenging in 1.0, just all dungeons in retrospect... Duty-Finders nice, but I think it has spoiled us too much, making having lasting party friendships with your own server less important; all this solo catering makes it easy to be a shy person and not worry about being with people.. its sad, even though i'm shy, I was glad to have to make friends to complete everything.

OK so i have read through every comment in all 10 pages whilst listening to the Coerthas theme and i agree, There is a lot prefer, Music is one, i am not saying Sokens music is bad, but i think if we got the choice to have the 1.23 music playing then over Thanalan, or Coerthas it would help bring that whole nostalgia feel,

secondly the zones do my head in, i get 1.0 was "copy paste copy paste" but right now we have 40 zones including cities that could be split until less that 10, .. i mean REALLY does every city need 2 zones? no... no it really doesn't 1.0 did't and 2'0 doesn't, and before you pull the PS3 card, DCOU, Dust 451,Defiance all have zones far bigger than XIV

Have spent a a good amount of time on CNJ and THM lately, I found myself miss the way mages hold a staff in 1.0, and the casting animations.

I mean, what the flying fraggin frag is up with that left arm in 2.0? Hold a staff like its supposed to be held, dammit! Not as if it was a wand and you had a shield in left hand.
And even the wand+shield stance looks just horrible.
And the casting animation in 2.0... Whats with all the ass/body shaking thing? Are characters trying to workout by doing that Rumba thing you see on the Tv shop channel? Or is it Zumba?

Other things I miss, are the huge areas..
And yes, specially the old big coerthas. All the new areas feel too small, and lack any option for exploration. They are nothing but lvling hubs, just like any other mmo. I dont like that.
Not saying the 2.0 zones are ugly, they are very well done. Just too small.

And much of the music too, and all thoose nice underground dungeons (not instances).

    1) I also miss the less-restricted armor system from 1.0. It was awfully balanced, but it allowed you to wear what you wanted (vanity tab plz!).
    2) Waist/belt piece actually having a visible component... understandably removed for performance reasons.
    3) Liberal cross-ability selection. In early 1.0, only a few abilities were exclusive to the class and most were cross-classable. You could create some fun combinations (I created a staff fighter by equipping a THM staff and slotting MAR abilities).
    4) Open world dungeons. Arguably bland at times, but with 2.0's vision, these could've been highlights of the 2.0 experience.

1.0 had a lot of great ideas tons o' potential. Most of those great aspects were either highly undeveloped (ex: dungeons) or poorly executed (ex: original armory system). While I wish the 2.0 team would've embraced some of the original ideas behind the armory system, I am far happier with this version. It is much more polished, performant and enjoyable.

There are many things I like about ARR and I'm still having fun, but...
    • Fluid animations and inertia. This is what I miss most. The old ones were so real, so lifelike and and so beautiful. ARR's animations are largely clunky and artificial by comparison.
    • Not having to change zones within cities.
    • Coerthas. The v1 Coerthas was HUGE and you could really explore. Most of it was never used, but I think that's because the original team's time was cut short and they never got a chance to do many of the things they wanted. Old Coerthas was rugged and beautiful. The ARR Coerthas is also quite beautiful at times and I really like it on a sunny morning with snow falling off the trees... but I wish we could have kept some of the old Coerthas as well... maybe in the lower areas.
    • Music. I miss the old music a lot. In ARR the music is too short and the silence too long. To be honest, I can't even remember a lot of the music in ARR even though I've been playing every day. And there are small zone-specific music tracks that just quickly fade in and fade out as you pass through them (sanctuaries and the Unholy Heir come to mind)... interesting concept, but a bit wasted.
    • Anti-Alias settings. We used to be able to set them higher if our computer allowed it. I've figured out how to override ARR's settings with the graphics card properties, but it doesn't help screenshots which still look jagged.
    • Belts. The newer armor pieces with built in belts look really nice, but some of the other pieces (robes!) really need belts.
