I did Titan recently as BLM with Garuda Staff, AF1 body and the rest Demagogue and I didn't die once throughout the entire fight (had 3.1k HP because I forgot to eat). Titan is more about skill then it is about gear (as people proved with beating Titan in bikinis)

It's totally about gear once the tumult damage really starts ramping up after breaking the heart. If you don't have the gear to do the damage, you're taking way too long to kill him and the tumult damage becomes waaaaay too much for healers to heal...and if you don't have the gear to survive the tumult damage...well, you get the point. It's cumulative damage, which means every round he uses the ability, he stomps for an additional hit. So, if he stomps 4 times one round, he stomps 5 times the next round, and 6 the round after that. Each stomp is another big stack of damage.

Titan is a healthy blend of both. But don't assume that since you got carried through Titan HM with only 3.1k hp's, it was about YOUR skill. No, my friend, it was about the healers being able to keep you alive through all the tumults.

Edit: And I'm honestly not trying to sound mean here, but really being truthful. At 3.1k hp's, you're way more of a liability to a Titan HM than an asset. It would be a lot easier on the healer with you dead, and to be even more frank, Titan doesn't require the whole party being alive to kill him at the end. I've beaten him with everyone alive, and with only 1 person alive, and with various numbers alive in between.
