Case Closed.
Campaign was as close to FATEs as any non-bandwagon job could hope for before Tanaka was given the boot the first time around (apologies to XIV 1.0 players for that move). Any old-school Beastmaster would have killed for something like FATEs.
I doubt any "old school" beast master would have enjoyed Fates. Old School Beast masters were in a class of their own, as that job required vast amounts of patience and skill - and I really doubt that type of player would have enjoyed such shallow and stupid gameplay like what's in Fates on this game, let alone kill for it.
You're correct to say certain jobs were rarely sought after by random groups on FF11. But that just reinforces what Hycinthus was saying. It gave more incentive to make friends to group with.
I totally agree OP.
FATES simply involve mindless zerging from one to the next with no skill required whatsoever.
I wish they would just remove FATES completely.
I'd even go as far as to say remove Odin and Behemoth in their current format, and make those a "special event" that only happens once in a blue moon where the first 48 level appropriate players to interact with a portal/switch/whatever are pulled into an instance for the fight. Even better, have it where it will select the ideal number of tanks, healers and DD's from those that got there first and auto party them inside the instance, beginning the fight once all parties are filled. And as they are such rare and special events, with limited seats, the rewards should reflect that and be epic if the players beat it.
Just my thoughts.....
bump OP is right
I agree with OP also.
Rather than just buffing everything else I'd rather see FATEs properly scale with the participant amount though. They should reward effort (bigger challenge = bigger reward) rather than just participant amount (more participants = basically same reward with less time and skill taken). Battleleves and guildhests need a buff regardless of the other adjustments though.
FATE = Train of mindless kids chasing after soccer ball...
Dungeons are good as of now... no need to buff them...
