Most people prefer to level entirely off quests. Btw, what makes someone who levels in groups more "hardcore" than someone who levels from quests? Another person who doesn't know the difference between casual/hardcore. If someone is capable of beating said dungeon once. Then they beat said dungeon twice. There's a good chance they can beat said dungeon a third time. Hardcore implies that something is hard. Doing the same task you've already proven capable of doing over and over isn't hardcore. It's tedious.

The "FATE" concept to me needs an overhaul. Having everyone being able to "mindlessly" zerging FATEs in general is really boring. Like make FATEs have more depth to them, perhaps make it so only a certain amount of people can enter ( they can even make it instance if they so desire.

Like 8 people approach said FATE> get put into an instance (the area can even look the same), then at that point, make it so the FATEs have more meaning.

That's how I feel about FATEs personally.

Sorry but hardcore has nothing to do with hard content.

Hardcore is a mindset. You can be hardcore with content that has no challange or you can be hardcore slamming your head against twintania in this game.

Someone playing 30mins a day who can beat twintania in ARR is not hardcore, they are a good player.

    Hardcore =/= hard content.

Just like Casual =/= crappy player and hardcore =/= good player. I seen good casuals and horrible hardcores in my 13yrs of playing mmos.

Perhaps 'Traditionalist' is the proper term. I consider myself a traditionalist because I would rather gain levels in a traditional manner ( groups that require role responsibility).

FATEs have somewhat become an accepted power leveling tactic. That, IMO, needs to be changed.

Actually that was kind of my point though badly worded. The way he is speaking of casuals makes it seem like casuals are a bad thing. That bad design features is because of casuals. I don't re-call any casuals jumping up and down screaming for fates. Just for things to be done in a timely fashion whether it be from doing dungeons, leveling, or fates. Most casuals aren't asking for a specific thing to be the only way. He worded it as if the game was designed entirely for the hardcore it would have come out better. He implied that casuals just want to solo. Which also implies grouping is "too hard" for a casual. This isn't true.

Heres what I was hoping to see:

Dungeon leves: A random dungeon that rewards competitive experience.

    Fates changes:
Lower the amount of experience obtained or change it so they can not be completed so fast.

That's exactly it, though, I think. For new characters to be able to catch up to Legacy players quick enough so that we can all be on the same level for when new content comes out. The longer it takes us to get on par with Legacy, the longer they will be separated and stuck on their Legacy servers that are already pretty crowded from what I hear (We can't give them an advantage, God forbid people will whine). I played 1.0 for about a year and I didn't max any crafts, I had several 40+ classes and a 50 Archer. This time around I maxed ALL of the crafts in a month and a half. I feel like they made the 1-50 as the warm up due to legacy players. And that content will be designed with more focused on everyone once we all are near the same point in the game. I remember leves were a pain in the ass and weren't as frequently given to us as they are now. So, by having many more leves (and Fates for Battle classes) now helps us close the gap between us and them that much quicker. But who knows? Maybe they didn't think this out. I still feel like real endgame will happen when level cap is raised and the real exp grind kicks in. Isn't there data-mined info that points to a dramatic increase in exp needed beyond 50 even though cap is still 50?

wtb dungeons as a viable leveling option.

Fates are lame, mindless and boring exp grinds....

    run in, spam aoe, profit.

I think other leveling routes could be re-balanced. FATEs are little OPed in comparison to dungeons and leves.... especially dungeon experiences. I would like to see Leves get a slight boost in exp but I would also like to see them become more group friendly. Behests would be cool if they turned into more Riftesque Instant Adventures (spawning random challenges for group of players, taking them all over the current zone). Otherwise, I don't see many players take advantage of them.
