Red Mage (hybrid Melee caster version)
    Bard (party buffer)
Blue Mage (Maybe merged with beastmaster, has a "familiar" animal and they can learn spells from NMs and such? Or make it like the Morpher class from FFTA where they turn into a monster and then can use that monster's abilities)Summoner (obvious)
    Dragoon (PLEASENOPETWYVERN)
Samurai (Damage dealer, not tank pl0x but otherwise I like it in FFXI, or a Parivir in FFTA2)
    Paladin
    Dark Knight
Ninja (Dual wield short swords! PLEASEDONTMAKETHEMATANK)
Monk (martial arts version, give them unique weapons!)
Thief (Dual wield daggers! And Steal!)
Chemist (for DoH/DoL! Mixes various materials to make various items)
Puppetmaster (About the only one I want ported from FFXI >.>)

But for the initial release of the job system...

Black Mage, White Mage, Red Mage, Bard for Disciples of Magic
Samurai, Ninja, Thief, Monk, Dragoon for Disciples of War
And Chemist for Disciples of Hand/Disciples of Land

The rest can be added later. These are just the ones I REALLY want to see.

This hinges on whether we see Utsusemi make a return. Hopefully it won't.

Summoner is going to be the hard one to implement. XI's system proved to not work seeing how it was limited by the blood pact timer, the avatar had little if anything that connected it to the Summoner and so on. Summoner lacking their traditional baseline second school of magic didn't help either.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
    * Design ideas:

Hm... abit messy main post but i'll post what i like to see anyway.

Id like to see most jobs from FFXI & older FF games.
Also much like FFXI, id like to see the diffrent Jobs have diffrent graphical "action's" movement.
Like being conjurer in FFXIV, almost every spell cast looks the same.... Gets boring real fast.
More motion capture please, even if it's minor movement / execution of the action.

Jobs id like to play / explore.

Black Mage - Dark / Badass Looking robes, hats & weapons (staves & wands) - and please give them a scythe too lol.
White Mage - Loved the FFXI whm looks, so id still go for that. Something soft & smooth colored. (red & white works)
    Red Mage - Stylish Gear.
Summoner - Robe with a Cape, a Proper long Cape, bring back the FF Tactics Summoner.
Beastmaster - Fluffy.... with a whip, possibly claws.
Thief - Slim, Stealthy & Bandana & that old 1980's top Jacket lol. EPIC!
Ninja - Dark / Black, but with a thrashed cape hanging down one should. (kinda like the 1991's Last Ninja 3 style)
"Assassin" (w/e that class was meant for)
Paladin - Shiny rock solid Tank
Mimic / Blue Mage - I have no idea, i just wann learn & use monster spells.
Corsair / Privateer - Cutlass, badass looking pirate had (+ eyepatch), maybe even dual-wield flintlock pistols (offhand) or both as cool WS.

And... a job with a "Whip" weapon, id prefer Beastmaster or Warlock?.

Id also like to add a suggestion to any "Familiar" job that can summon / tame beasts.
Beasts like: Dodo, Coblyn, Chigoue, Aldgoat, Hogs, Marmot (pathetic but funny), Mitelings...etc

The option to tame, sell tamed beasts, Name (or Rename), Customize (armor, collar etc)
Maybe even add the pets their own leveling / stats menu (UI)

This is subject to opinion. Red Mage should be fine with something based off the French musketeers' uniform to go with the rapier and the plumed hat. The RDM empyrean set was overly garish, and as such I didn't like it. The relic set, on the other hand, looked proper for a Red Mage. Now the sets lacking swordsman-like stats is another matter, but still... >.>

Edit: I'd be fine with a variation of this too.

This I definitely agree with. Pets should have had more depth instead of the overt reliance on charming pets only for them to turn on you after a while.

I would like to have a melee damage dealing job that incorporates few unique long-duration party buffs (perhaps of which he can only have one active at a time, like an aura), as well as a wide variety of short duration party buffs that can be semi-spammed (make the duration a bit shorter than the recast, to encourage timing of these). Of course the damage of this job shouldn't be amazing, but the buffs available should make up for this.

The buffs should cost either MP, TP or both, depending on the nature and power of the buff.

Certain short duration buffs should maybe only be single target. eg: A damage absorbing shield that increases enmity of the player the shield is cast on, whenever it absorbs damage.

    Examples of buffs:

    Long duration:

    - Small percentage of physical damage is converted into health
    - Small percentage of magical damage is converted into MP
    - Movement speed is increased
    - Stamina recharge is increased
    - TP exhausts slower when out of combat

    Short duration:

    - Respite, regenerating a moderate amount of health over 5-10 seconds
    - Fury, making the next 3 attacks from each party member do more damage
    - Barrier, reducing all incoming damage by X amount on a per source basis for 5-10 seconds
    - Aura, regenerating a moderate amount of MP over 5-10 seconds
    - Power, making the next spell or magical attack deal more damage for each party member
    - Aegis: Places a shield on one player, absorbing X amount of damage, increasing enmity towards the buffed player whenever the shield absorbs damage, based on the amount of damage absorbed
    - Salvation: Reduce enmity of one player a little bit instantly, and of their next 4 attacks, abilities or spells.
    - Link: You link with one of your party members, sharing their pain. You share X% of the damage they take for 5-10 seconds.

I would suggest implementing this job with a strong affinity towards the lancer class.

Strategically, you will want to keep one of the long duration buffs up during the battle, depending on what is needed, and the short duration abilities should be viable for use quite a lot during fights, but overly spemming them will make you run out of MP fast. So you need to find a good balance of timing your skills, without exhausting your MP and TP (and HP?)

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

only 1 tank job is boring .....so whatever jobs come from gladiator....

a 1h+shield tank, and a 2h tank? , or evade tank (alas ninja FFXI?) something for tank players that want to tank w/o shield :P

1 healers is boring too......whm is awesome yeah , powerfull heals......what about powerfull "shields " , kinda like stoneskin effects?

    DDs :

Blue mage (FFXI version is actually awesome , but learning Blu magic was random as hell ......and frustrating >>)

Beastmaster , the idea is awesome , but in FFXIV we need permacharm , or better jugs , more interaction (beastmaster in Rift is awesome , and the white lion in warhammer was cool too)

Dragoon , but let draggon choose the pet type (offensive , mix , defensive) ,color and name

    Dark knight , Cecil rocks

Summoner , but please no long "pacts" , and no mp drain D: , carbuncle !!!

Thief ......SATA <yes , please> , Agro control and huge dmg spikes

Black mage , ancient magic ! new visual effects

Bard or dancer , buffs , and melee skills that debuff the mob (Lnc health drain )

Red mage , using melee skills to boost enhancing magic? :3

PuP , copy from FFXI , paste >< , but attachaments from "solo" pup quests (rank)

I agree here. Probably variations of both to create a pool of tanks to choose from.

As I see it, you'd have to split healing between WHM and someone else. Problem is, we don't have many healing archetypes in Final Fantasy. Last time RDm and SMN were drafted for healing. I think the burden needs to be passed on to a real back-liner, though. I'd say bring in Green Mage as the "barrier"-oriented healer with better skills at regenerating HP in short amounts of time. We'd obviously need more than that though.

I would personally like to see a form of dark healer. And by dark, I don't just mean THM sacrifice. It would be cool to have really dark looking animations for the heals, maybe drain HP from the monster and transfer to the party, a DoT that slowly leeches HP, etc. Combine THM abilities like the absorb spells and add in a job ability that transfers those buffs to the entire party (not just one member :P), I think that would be cool.

DNC return would also be a cool healer, if they could up its healing potential! I would really like to see an offensive healer in general! ^_^
