Seriously? Mystic = Summoner. Arcanist = Bard. This is just one big troll clusterf*ck. Cut it out, guys.
You guys are not game developers. And your suggestions are patently absurd at this point in time. They didn't ask for job suggestions, so don't pile it on. All you're doing is creating annoyances.
No offense, but the only annoyance here is you. People would really like to see these jobs added and we have no guarantee that they will add them all, so people are merely suggesting the ones they would like to see.*quietly stares in annoyance*

Chill out.
/sigh i know this will be sarcastic but the self-proclaimed hall monitors are in effect.
i started the original one only because i KNOW that someones request for an obscure job will be lost on page 11. sucks for them i guess...
since this is the 'socially approved' manner.. so be it.. i +1 on sam /sadface

they will still be lost actually, because unless someone keeps bumping these threads they will disapear, honestly i dont have a good solution for this, probably an offsite poll, but people wouldnt bother./sigh i know this will be sarcastic but the self-proclaimed hall monitors are in effect.

Maybe you don't have the ability to put yourself in the developers' shoes. Can you imagine trying to overhaul a combat system, while having the community naggering away in your ear with all sorts of redundant-ish suggestions that they didn't ask for?
My point is this: If they aren't asking us for suggestions, don't give them suggestions that are pointless, redundant and a waste of oxygen.
Here are the jobs that are OBVIOUSLY going to come to the game: Fencer, Musketeer, Mystic (Summoner?), Arcanist (Bard?), Samurai, and Dragoon. Those are the combat jobs that are clearly going to be planned for the game at some point in the future. It's collaborated by DAT leaks and pre-existing NPCs (there are NPCs called Dragoons around the game, and they are Ishgardian in origin).
So that said, just save us the headaches and just not clutter up the forums with job suggestions. Just because Matsui announced that there will be a job system, doesn't mean he has no ideas on what jobs to implement. He already has a plan, and it's pretty much well along in development - if we're going to be making suggestions, make them with the mental note that they will NOT be implemented in this dev cycle unless it's already been planned by the dev team.
That is to say, Matsui has already decided on what jobs will be implemented in this first dev cycle. Any new suggestions will be ignored. The only chance a viable suggestion would get implemented, would be in the form of an expansion. So if you're going to make a suggestion, make it with the exception that you will never see it implemented for at least a year.
This will help prevent unnecessarily raised expectations that will lead to a massive disappointment when the new jobs are announced. Seriously, you people are like 13-year olds...
the irony is.. i AM a developer. feedback like this is as valuable as gold.Maybe you don't have the ability to put yourself in the developers' shoes. and yes... devs will read this... they (we) love to know what's in the mind of those whom are 'noisy'.
also... a dev would then have the ability to search for [1058] Job Petition

Anyone on the internet can claim to be a developer. I've been "studying" game development, but I have not once created a game, even though I have loads of game design documents, half-finished, laying around.
Right now, what I was trying to say, is that the devs already have a game plan laid out. They're going to stick to it unless the circumstances call for a shift - do I need to conjure up an example of an MMORPG that tanked after a major overhaul because of incessant feedback that was not constructive nor helpful?
Star Wars Galaxies, NGE.
It just feels absurd to be clamoring all over the place for different jobs/classes for no reason other than the fact that Matsui announced a jobs system. I mean, come on.
Someone earlier mentioned that the classes I mentioned were classes, not jobs. That's true, but people need to understand that, like I said, the developers already have a plan in place and are in the process of implementing and testing it. This is the wrong time to be making suggestions for jobs, especially ones that would seem to only bloat the game with redundancy.
Soldier? Please. That's Gladiator, thank you very much.
Edit: One other reason for my trepidation is that we don't know EXACTLY how the Jobs system will function, so clamoring to make job suggestions is kind of shortsighted at this time until we understand how it works!
(That is to say, with actual hands-on knowledge of the system.)
