    I think it would be best if we kept discussion of Jobs in one topic to avoid drowning in job suggestion topics.

    If you want to suggest a job, just mention it and your ideas behind it. If others like the idea, they should click the like button (Adding +1 in reply is unnecessary).

    Seriously? Mystic = Summoner. Arcanist = Bard. This is just one big troll clusterf*ck. Cut it out, guys.

    You guys are not game developers. And your suggestions are patently absurd at this point in time. They didn't ask for job suggestions, so don't pile it on. All you're doing is creating annoyances.

    Job Petition: Soldier

    Because all Disciples of War are technically "warriors", and the name "Fighter" is just too generic a thing to call a Job that's supposed to be a specialization, I'd like to see the Soldier job return as the non-mystical, non-rogueish, purely physical-skills based Job that takes the place of Warrior/Fighter in FFXIV. Considering the coming conflict in Eorzea, there would be a need for them.

    I'll start. As obvious to those who have seen my posts, I want Red Mage to be in the game. The thing is, I don't want Red Mage to be designed as a simple support class (again, because a guy with a sword in one hand and magic glowing out of the other should not be support). I'd like to see some actual melee mage emphasis on Red Mage rather than a pure generalist approach to the class. We know the pure generalist approach did nothing but hinder the class in its own versatility in FFXI, so I don't want to see that mistake repeated again.

    Minor utility like off-heals and such are fine, but defining the entire class around casting buffs on other players has been nothing but a kick in the face to those who liked the magic swordsman aspect of the class. Sure, there are those who liked the design as per FFXi (either because of the easy party invites or due to liking the support aspect for its usefulness), but let's not kid ourselves; a guy with a sword in hand should be using it, not be shackled to a weapon he has no skill in while standing in the back row. The fact that all of Red Mage's class specific gear (the notable gear, anyways) was named around the swordsman theme made things that much more confusing, making people like me scratch their heads over why the class got a Duelist's and Estoqueur's set yet had nothing to do with swordsmanship or front line combat at all.

    Please keep this in mind if you decide to implement Red Mage.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
