What is the cap on rest XP/how does it work (Dev feel free to answer...)

I have heard different things and just wondering if anyone has a definite answer. Thanks in advance. (If there has been a thread on here already about it then oops...)

I have heard it's a percentage of the class you are leveling. I've heard it is a set EXP number. I've heard it's an "hours in sanctuary cap". Thanks in advance for the answer^^

A certain percentage of your bar goes up for however long you have been in a sanctuary.

I would love to say it is a full bar for 24 hours, but that would seem too simple.

It's the bar, nothing more, which can be shown easily by switching from a high job to a low one, the percentage of the bar stays the same.

As a result, you benefit more from using rested exp on a higher job, because you gain more exp over the length of the bar.

Not entirely sure how true this is, and it's another of those "I've heard" things but I've heard that the cap is basically 2 full levels worth of exp.

That is what I was worried about. So essentially If I switch to a class that is level 1, assuming I have full rest XP (if there is a cap), I will only get to level 3 instead of say...25. So, like it was said, using it on higher level Job makes the most sense because it is based off of "bars" of xp, not a set amount of XP. Got it...

Well, it's definitely a % of a bar. If I get rested exp on my lvl 50 PLD building up then switch to another class to actually make use of it, the same amount of bar is covered as it was on my PLD. Couldn't tell you the rate that it builds, though.

No, will get far beyond level 3. What I am saying is you would have 2 full levels of rested exp. Which is bonus exp while you level. So while you have those 2 full levels of rested exp, you might not run out of rested exp until around lvl 7-10, quite possibly much later than even that. This requires some testing, to be sure, and I am certain that someone out there has already done it. Right now though, I am merely guess-timating.

At the higher levels, it would obviously take much longer to use up that rested exp. This much I can attest for. As I had well over a full bar of rested back when I was leveling up my Arcanist/Summoner and it took me several days to use it up (of course I didn't play consecutively during this time, and so gained a slight bit of rested exp each day from logging out too, but still not enough to counter my usage of it when I logged in and continued leveling).

Yep. The best use I've found for rest exp is gathering jobs. I usually go out and hammer some rocks or pull some weeds until it's used up, and then switch back to a DoW/DoM job to go do quests and fates.

In my experience it is class related. I had a ton of rested exp on my jobs that reached level 50 and then I swapped over to another new class and suddenly there was no rested exp at all.
