Yes, I definitely see your points on this. Also I was thinking I could view everyone's hate which someone said is not the case. If I can not view everyone's hate then this would not do me any good really. With the exception that I could adjust my own hate ratio if it was too high. Yet again, if I know what I am doing I learn what will give me hate. I think I'll have to concede that your arguement is valid Ab and although I was really excited when I heard about this, it really may not be such a good tool after all.

I say YES to the hate meter. There is nothing wrong with displaying measurable metrics that indicate underlying hate algorithms. This will give everyone confidence the system works AND be able to measure empirically what abilities are most effective on your current or sub class. If only more metrics were displayed so visibly.

Just for the sake of argument, what games current use something like this?

Thisx2. It introduces a new game mechanic not often seen, having this will offer control. And it's something MMO players want. If the majority of an MMO playerbase did not want to have threat metres available, add-ons such as Omen for WoW would not exist. Most people want it. And we're getting it. So those opposed are SOL.

Although I understand your argument. This is the same argument for or against using an official parser. It's a question of values. You value personal experimentation that is not shared among the entire population. It would be no different as if I had done the parsing tests I had done and not shared it with anybody. Essentially you like the challenge of figuring out the system yourself and reaping the benefits of being one of the select few to function at that level. I understand that argument. My values are the same as far as the challenge of performing at peak potential, but when it comes to sharing that information with others, I would rather collaborate to validate my own tests and theories. Only in doing that can we uncover deepset problems in game algorithms which leads up to this update in the first place.

I was pretty annoyed at seeing this thread existed, but are pleased to realize that its pretty much the OP arguing with a bunch of people saying YES to hate meter.

    YES. TO. HATE. METER.

Hate meter opens up more possibilities for everyone to battle more efficiently. Example: the tank's voked twice, and his voke comes up again, but he sees that he's got the majority of the hate, he can use that opening to cast a cure on himself, or to use a WS when he would have just wasted time voking. This clearly helps him, and the party out in the long run, and could mean the difference between beating a tough NM or wiping.

Artificially making the game "challenging" by hiding stats that would otherwise benefit the game/player base is a step backwards. We don't even know the possibilities that this meter will offer in terms of the new battle system.

The bottom line is that it will make partying more efficient, and I am down for anything that does that. If efficient = easy, then bring on easy mode, SE. Kinda tired of these "plz just implement FFXI into FFXIV" posts every time something new or different from that game gets introduced into XIV. If you want to play FFXI so bad, please just go play that and stop cluttering the forums with backwards suggestions.
