    Conjurer class help?

    Hey,

So I recently started a sub-class as conjurer and have been leveling it up, currently at level 16. I have a few questions and I need some advice because at the moment I'm struggling to make progress with the class. If anyone could answer any of the following, it would be a great help to me.

I noticed around wiki's etc that at level 15 the Conjurer class has access to the 'Fluid Aura' ability, however it's not in my list of abilities at all? -Anyone know anything about this?

Is there a way to allow the Conjurer class to have access to more offensive spells? At the moment the Conjurer class is a great support class, but that's not useful all the time, sometimes I need to pack a punch. I currently have the 'Stone' and 'Aero' abilities, which are ok and with 'Cleric Stance' can hurt, but is there only two spells for this class that can actually deal damage? Is there not abilities I can draw from other classes?

I'm trying to level up my Conjurer to 30 for the 'White Mage' job, however at 16 it's taking a while to get up. I've completed the Rank 1 & 2 hunting logs, and since I don't have access to 3 and am not a high enough level to continue with the story, I find myself in a position where I'm stuck for leveling. I tried fates but regardless of my efforts I never seem to get more than about 1'500 XP, which honestly isn't a lot. Any advice on this?

Does the Conjurer class gain a XP bonus for healing other players during battle, or alike other classes is it based on the damage you do during fates etc.?

If anyone has any advice on using the Conjurer class and making it the most effective, maybe even some suggestions on gear etc, it would be a huge help. I'm having a tough time with it but want to ride it out since I feel a support class would be in my parties favour.

Thanks for reading this, apologies if it's a bit long but I really do appreciate all the help I receive. Many thanks!

There are ways to help your conj damage. Level a therm to 6 and cross over thunder. It is a extra dot you can use alongside your aero DoT.

The ability Fluid Aura is probably your class quest skill you obtain by doing your class quest at lv 15 or 20. I can't remember which level gives you your ability. I think its 15. Anyway do your class quests and you will unlock the "hidden" ability you can't see in your action list.

DO ALL THE FATES YOU SEE! I cannot stress this enough for anybody leveling and running out of quests. Specially solo healers. You actually don't need to be in a group to do well. All you need to do is spam heal people around you even if they are at full health. Just make sure you heal people who have agro (being hit by mobs). Fate rewards are determined by threat level, so more agro you have the better score you get. So go. GO! Go my healer friend and heal your butt off!

Ahaha, well that answered a few of my questions so many thanks! I'll go do your suggestions now and hopefully it'll pay off. That last comment made me chuckle a lil' too.

At least someone appreciates my humor.

A little side note: It is much easier to get gold in a group. You literally don't have to do anything but hit a mob once in a fate or heal someone and you will get gold. A player in your group has to obtain gold themselves for you to get gold too.

Oh? Does this apply only to fates, or is the same true for dungeons etc.?

Ya that one at Hawthonre Hut is not to be trusted lol. I think she has an evil sense of humour. Good luck the Fluid spell is s good one very useful as it gives you time to do heals etc as it throws even big enemies away from you.

As others mentioned, this is a class quest ability. Just stop by the Conjurer Guild in Gridania and the Guildmaster will have the quest for you.

As a WHM it looks like I'm able to pick up Thunder (A DoT) from THM and Ruin (similar to stone but weaker) as offensive spells from my level 18 THM and 25 ACN. So, nothing impressive. Fluid aura does damage with its knockback and you get a second DoT as you level. But, as CNJ/WHM is intended to be a straight healing class you won't be getting much in terms of damaging abilities because they're mostly there to give you a way to level outside of groups.

Queue for dungeons, while in the queue do Fates. Someone already explained how to get more experience from fates but I'd like to add... put your DoT up on everything you possibly can in the fates that are just a bunch of monsters and try your best to tag them as they first spawn so you can get first tag. It'll help your chances with getting gold.

If they're in your group, yeah. You also get credit towards higher medals in Fates just for healing random people but you won't get exp from the actual monsters killed.

Turn your patience levels waaaaay up. We're often the first ones that are looked to for blame when a group dies to something. Just have to keep your cool and explain exactly what happened, and if they don't like it... ignore them. You're going to get a lot of aggro on trash mobs, especially if your tank is a paladin because they don't have the best in terms of aoe threat. At lower levels it's not a big deal because you can usually take the hits easily on your own but as things get higher it gets more painful. At level 26 you'll get your sleep spell. Sometimes the tanks will mark for you to CC, that's awesome. Sometimes they won't, that's fine too but make sure you sleep anything that decides to attack you. If your spell casts are getting interrupted pretty badly while you're trying to sleep use Fluid Aura to knock them back then follow up with a sleep.

Another thing is mana management. It's pretty easy at your level but will get steadily harder to keep from ooming when you're stressed until level 38 when you get your first regen spell. My suggestion is to pay attention to the mana costs of your spells and weigh the price of using them vs higher mana cost spells. Like... is it more worh using a few cures to get people up or just casting one medica (this depends on how many people you're able to hit with the medica and what people's health is). It takes a little getting used to at first but after a while it gets pretty easy to do quickly.[/QUOTE]

I hear a lot of people mentioning DoT, what is it? I'm not familiar with the 'slang' used in this game aha.

It stands for damage over time. It's an ability like Aero that deals damage in small increments instead of immediate damage like stone. There's also HoT which stands for healing over time, same thing but with healing.
