Finally! Someone gets it. Other classes or brd are not the problem Its this running around and dodging then having to restack debuffs or put buffs you need to do damage. Leave everything. Give monks 30 sec on greased lightning and call it a day. Your welcome SE.Perhaps they need to change the game mechanic of running and dodging almost the entire battle so that melee DPS can actually do damage without having to constantly getting interrupted.... It's a rather cheap mechanic that does need to be adjusted, and not the bard or the drg or monk class itself...
Monk would be OP with 30 seconds (basically permanent) Greased Lightning.
monk was so much fun in 1.0... you didnt have to dodge so much stuff...
Price was no object when Count Dascorp put forth the necessary guild marks to purchase the ability “Fleet of Foot.”
And still those other ranged classes are parsing far more than bard even when they have to move. You do realise that's why EVERY raid group takes at least 1 BRD right, for your songs? So that's not a negative point at all.
Main problem is, that unlike the other Ranged classes who can avoid a lot of mechanics as is simply due to the fact they are ranged are penalised when moving. BRDs have no penalty for moving, meaning they can avoid the majority of mechanics with ease and keep 100% uptime on their DPS.
Seriously, show me one single Coil fight where bard is top dps and i'll be fine with whatever nerf is coming
"Coil, coil, coil, coil..."
That is one dungeon. By using that as an example you're not saying that Bards don't need to be nerfed, but rather that Bard endgame equipment needs to be buffed, which sounds like the case.
BRDs aren't a DPS class. They shouldn't be anywhere near anyone else in terms of DPS. Their main use is their songs. The fact that they can put out reasonable DPS with 100% uptime with absolute mechanic avoidance is INSANE.

I think more than the damage is the fact that manasong is mandatory beause mana regen is so crucial at the current level of gear people have.
I just don't see many groups doing Turn 4 without manasong. How in hell would they even attempt Turn 5 without manasong?
The bard songs are too essential, and they can't nerf them even though they are the main reason why bards are guaranteed a spot in a raid over other classes because if they nerf bard songs some content is going to become impossible.
Instead of touching bard damage, they need to buff base TP regen and mana regen for classes, and in turn decrease the effectiveness of the songs. Or if not they should spread these capabilities to other classes so that you don't have bard as the only option for raid resource maintenance.
There's no such thing like " We must bring a monk/dragoon/summoner/BLM to be able to do this encounter". Monks and dragoons are interchangeable, you just want one for a limit break, and the same goes for summoner and black mage. Only the bard has exclusive, mandatory perks for a raid out of all the DPS.
You can build a raid group without any of the other DPS. You cannot build a raid group without a single bard.

I'll be honest, I really don't see a problem with bards getting nerfed. Bards are there for support - they are there to buff the group so the group can do more dps/hps as a group via their songs. Before I started playing this game I was planning on being a bard, however when I saw 100s of archers/bards running around I decided against it. If it were up to me, a bard would have the same personal dps as a tank, but their buffs would increase the entire groups effectiveness by at least 10%.
Well until they give us songs I can use to heal with. Until I can queue in as a healer. I will then consider myself support. Until then bards are dps
